Family members of Bride/Groom cannot go for other wedding celebrations?

Hi all,

I heard from an aunt that 1 month before and after the bride/groom's wedding, the family members of both bride and groom cannot go for other wedding celebration. How true is this and has anyone heard about this before?

I am stuck in a terrible situation now. I am suppose to be a jiemei for my friend on 31st May and my sis's wedding is on 8th Jun. Just only today, My mum told me that I cannot go and be my friend's jiemei because of some 喜冲喜 customary and it's 2 weeks away from my friend's wedding.

I went ard the net to read up but no mention about jiemei in 喜冲喜 customary. I only know brides cannot go for weddings 4 months after her own wedding.

Has anyone been in this situation before? Help please. Thank you.

Wah. I never heard of it. Only for brides and groom but then again, I will still go if I had to and our friends who were getting married came too. We don't believe.

Actually is like 4 months before & after cannot.. Coz it's really 喜冲喜..

I have a cousin who wanted to attend another cousin 21st birthdae but was also told best not to go..
