Disappointed - Raffles Marina

Our wedding date was clashed with another couple (who booked a bigger ballroom). Hence, the indoor atrium with window view of yacht was already booked.

We asked on event it is raining on our AD for our outdoor solemisation and yacht march in, the sales person promised to waive the venue fee (About 700+) when we expressed our concern. Yet when we asked in an email to her, she said it cannot be waived after talking with boss and we have to host our solemisation in our banquet hall to waive the rental charges. Even renting of function room on event is raining would require us to pay the solemisation outdoor venue rate.

I feel as a coordinator, she should at least help us fight for at least a percentage waiver of rental fee if it rain given that we are given an inferior function room already on event it is raining.

My HTB felt like a second class citizen in Raffles Marina and did not fulfil what they promised us verbally or even tried their best to give us a better offer and wrote a different story in the email.

I am utterly disappointed with Raffles Marina and decided not to host my wedding there regardless how epic the view and solemisation will be.

It is more important to get a trustworthy and a coordinator who ultimately wish to give you a pleasant wedding, rather than the location.

She did not even offer us a drink when we head down for viewing.

Ps: The food we paid our own and tried in their chinese resturant tested better than average but no wow factor.

I think it is true to get a trustworthy and reliable coordinator who balances both business ethics and customer's importance for the important day.

Like yourself, I gave up on my deposit for my wedding videographer, despite his overwhelming popularity.. His reply was curt when I ask if its possible to change the date, claiming that a change = cancel of original date as he had to reject many bookings as my date was "popular" despite it being half a year away and forfeited my original deposit for the date. I decided not to engage him for the actual day and gave up on using him.

Please beware of androidsinboots for wedding photography/videography, they have no ethics in dealing with customers..

I had to reschedule my wedding banquet after my parents wanted my htb and me to go through wedding counselling at the church and also cause they wanted us to hold a church wedding on top of the banquet, which requires a change of date. He did not bother to see how we can work out something (eg topup a little for a change of date).

I've initially booked my banquet dinner for the wedding to be in March 2017, but as the church was full in terms of bookings and unavailable, I had to shift my wedding to April 2017.

1) My bridal shop was very kind to help me make arrangements for my rental of dresses once I informed them
2) My caterer for the church wedding was so helpful and even allowed me to customised the menu according to the theme and met up twice to discuss on the layout after visiting the church
3) Wedding banquet planner was so helpful on helping me change dates and promptly informed the invites dates to be changed as well.

Stay positive! I have been so much happier after I realise how many better businesses are being so helpful towards our big day :)

Just wondering, your wedding is in April 2017 but you're printing your invites now?

Can share your church food caterer please? Thanks :)

Hi, it was an informing (usually they will charge for change in printing / design alterations), but they didn't! The invites I was going to print this year end or january end now that it has been shifted. Want to chope people's date!

Church caterer is a government approved caterer, hence prices on the reasonable end, can give budget and ideas on what you want and they work it out for you. The sales agent I talked to was [email protected] you would have to email to request and discuss the quote and what you're looking for :)

P.s, the food tasting price is half of the per pax you are paying for, which in my case i paid about 16sgd for my tastings as my per pax is 32! I budget to cater for my church and family for about 300 people. Have about 2 live stations! Hope this helps.

Otherws I considered were Megu and another government organisation, but Megu was overpriced (but honestly their reputation is good, just that for the number of pax I cannot afford too!) while the other vendor was having only fixed-menus, with no sales agent for me to negotiate or customise with.

Their site is down, but you can email them your enquiry! My sales agent Bryan liased with me, as above his email.

They're located at SIT (University) when I requested for a food tasting.
Only know of their contact cos my husband to be (works in a govt agency) used their catering services and had a colleague who used their catering for their wedding as well that we attend.
I recommend you compare a package you see outside and liase with them, as their prices are more reasonable and setup looks very presentable as it caters to your theme of the wedding too.

Ok thanks!!!

Shortlisting some vendors for church wedding now~

Really? I heard tt their portions quite ok o..

I went for one wedding and then the groom was sharing that they catered more food than number of attendees but still no left overs at all and the families didn't even get to eat much... The food was ok, nothing to rave about but it was not bad.

That is so pathetic! Thank god, their menu didn't make the cut for the 3 caterers i shortlisted. Went for the one that was albeit less popular, value for the price and sincere in doing what I'd hope to get for my wedding was what I was looking for. Hope you find the right one too, wedding only once..

So if have any bad vibes about the vendor don't bother, like what i did with my unhelpful photographer hahaha
