Catholic Brides

Hi minnsy, cookiebunny and CSI Fan

thanks for the well wishes! yes yes, i'll be posting up the pictures to share once it's ready =) so many pictures taken hehe... =p

Cookiebunny, the florist only provided flowers to be placed at the usual places, and for the pews, my galfren DIY very lovely flora deco to be used at the pews and kneeler hehe.. you can take a look at the flora deco pictures from there at my multiply.

Hi Lovebug,

Yup thought so too, my mum going to make those pew decor. I just hope the florist will co-op w/ the flower's colour else it will look weird.

Ok, will wait for your lovely photos!

Hi cookiebunny,
Fret not abt the flower color mismatch... the church florist will ask you which color you prefer, so you can sync with your pew flowers. =)

hi dreamdoll,
thanks dear! =)

Hi joop,
AHH!! who are you!? haha.. OMG, this is quite scary.. haha, anyway thanks for the well-wishes =)

Hi Lovebug,
Thanks for the feedback, I guess the florist is quite alright, not as 'tough' as I thought.

Gals,
Need some recommendation for caterer for lunch after my church service. I can only choose between Rasel Food Fusion, Kriston, Continental Delight and Stamford. Anyone has tasted or gone for reception with these caterers recently? Appreciate your feedback/comment, thanks
happy.gif

cookie bunny, kriston currently has a special package for church wedding. If u cater from them, floral arrangement for church is only $350. take a look at its website.

food wise, just tasted recently at a baby's birthday party. not too bad

hi cookie bunny,

went for food tasting at Kriston before...they're quite gd - esp their pastries and cakes
happy.gif
you should give them a call and see what they have to offer

Hi gals,

Thanks for the feedback

Diamond, ehm cant use the promo coz I have to use the church florist.

Dreamdoll,
Your house reno finish already? Do you know they are selling the big piece of land near our place to build condo? *grumble*

Lovebug,
Which package did your friends take ? We can use the chairs & tables at CTK hall, right?

cookiebunny,
I don't quite remember which package they took with Stamford. They'll set up the buffet line in the church function hall, and the tables and chairs in the hall can be used for your guests. You may even get your helpers to help you re-arrange the tables and chairs setting, so that there's ample room for your guests to move around, and mingle.

dreamdoll,

That field leading to the Park lor...the one near your place. I'm praying the condo will not be so tall else I might not be able to see the Park anymore *wails* (But likely quite high, since they aim for 670 units *grumble*). The sale sign is there already(opp the market) *wails*

Hi Lovebug,
Thanks...have you uploaded your photos? Waiting anxiously to see your AD photos hehehe
happy.gif

cookie bunny,

which blk are you staying at? hmm yep let's hope the condo won't be too tall...a bit odd to have a condo in between the flats...but gd thing won't affect my side too much
happy.gif

My blk is 286, at the market there...Oh good thing your house is not facing that field coz your blk is L-shaped, right?

The view from my living room and one of the bedrooms might be affected a little if it's a tall condo(>15 storeys), thankfully it's not facing the field directly.

Yalor...very weird to have condos in the middle of nowhere. They claim is to provide more accomodation after the casinos have opened.

cookiebunny, I've uploaded my wedding album tho'. The AD pictures will only be ready in another couple of weeks time, me too, very anxious to see them! hehe..

cookie bunny,

Hmm not sure if my blk is L-shaped but only my small windows at the kitchen and master BR are facing the carpark near the field. But my plan is to make blinds for the master BR and block out the window for privacy
happy.gif
How long have you been staying at 286? Any pics to share? In the midst of renos now...odd though, they shld increase housing at the IR areas then...

lovebug, do share your pics when all are ready!

hi gals,
I am new to this thread.
Rather confused with some procedures. Wondering if anyone can highlight to me?

My FH is Catholic and I am not. However, i will be arranging the MPC so that i can prepare myself for the religion as well.
I heard from my FMIL that we cant ROM is church as the Father does not do solemisation.
Is it true? Cause i would prefer to ROM in church then hold it in a hotel or private venue. I feel church more meaningful.
But from wat i know, need to get ROM cert 1st, then when AD arrives, have a church ceremony then the dinner banquet....
Or can i still ROM in church, provided that i get a licensed Catholic Soleminser?

Thanks for any kind answers....

hi linda,

alot of couples of such combination also does the ROM in church.. they do everything in 1 day.. church in the morning then dinner at night.. and not forgetting the playful 'gate crashing' too
happy.gif

Hey linda,

That's nice...you're arranging the MPC...
happy.gif

Yah, can ROM in church (just need to go TOM to collect the docs a couple of days before AD). Yup, you need a Catholic Priest who's a licensed solemniser to solemnise your marriage in Church. For my case, the celebrant is not a licensed solemniser. So we'll be having 2 priests (1 to be main celebrant, the other to do solemnisation)...

Hi all catholic brides to be,

I just got married last month and intend to put my beautiful and elegant full lace wedding gown up for sale. It’s cap sleeved, A-lined, chapel length and made with french chantilly lace.

Suitable for tall and skinny brides. I’m about 1.68m tall.

If you are interested and wish to see a photo of it, please PM me.

Hi all, I am new here. Will be getting married in IHM on 30th June 07.

Having some problems with the lunch catering..a lot of it is for minimum 100 persons, but since my FH is not catholic, i think i'll only have about 50-75 pax...any ideas for small-scale caterers?

i'm currently starting planning for my church wedding in july 2007. any tips / advice that you ladies can give me?

i juz booked the church last week and is sourcing for a caterer to do a simple reception. any suggestions?

isit a must to have flower girl and page boy? me and my hubby was thinking of bridesmaid and best man since children can be quite uncontrollable at times.

hi, miaka
for caterer, i used stamford, which is the halal wing of select catering. i invite friends of other religion to the church wedding but told them what time the service would be and what time the reception at the marquee outside would be so that they can decide what time they want to come.

for wedding gown, if your priest is old fashioned and needs shoulders covered, better find out early so that you can choose with that in mind.

for flowers, you might want to ask the people who do the flowers in church usually - they know what the priest likes or does not like, they'd likely be cheaper, and chances are the money would go into the donation box

happy planning

Hi Minssy, thanks for the info..will go check cjs out. U had good reviews for the food from guests? Also, did they do a wedding setup..ie flowers etc?

Also..any one here not done any flower deco for the church? Jus realised that i've not noticed the flower deco for all the church weddings i've been to .. heee

hi miaka, which parish are you getting married at? If the church allows you to have other florists, depending on how u negotiate with them (or if you have florist frens), the external florists may be cheaper...depending on what you want lah...hehs.

hi miaka,

caterer, page boy & flower girl stuff are one of the least impt stuff that shd be on your agenda... i feel that preparing for the wedding mass/service booklet, going for the MPC/EE is more impt than those
happy.gif

hi chick77,

of cos got good reviews else i will not dare to even recommend them

hi CSI Fan, I'm getting married at OLPS st Siglap Hill. The contribution of $550 includes 100 for church hall, 200 for canteen for reception, 200 for flower arrangement and 50 for powerpoint projection.

Hi Ve,

how do you noe which gowns are acceptable by the priest? do you ask the pple in your parish? my parish church will be undergoing renovation next july thus I booked OLPS, and I invite my parish priest to come over and do the ceremoney for us.

Hi miaka05,

think for the choice of your gown, as long as it's not too revealing, as in, bare belly, or ultra low bare back, or any over plunging neckline.. you should be safe! hehe.. most importantly is that you've to feel comfy, and easy for you to move around. If you're considering a long train, do get a bridesmaid to help you holding the train while moving around, and also to help you spread the train nicely.

hope that helps =)

MPC is a 6 weekend course, with 3 home sessions at the presenting couple's home, together with the other participating couples. It's very interesting to learn from each other. Whereas, EE is a weekend session, 3D2N, with stay-in at a hostel. Some says it's a crash course of MPC hehe(o'well we went for the MPC)

Initially, both my hubby and I were pretty reluctant to go for the MPC, coz with the thought that it burnt our precious sunday mornings... but we ended up enjoying all the sessions, and very much looking forward every weekend instead! haha... We're glad that we went for it =)

hi lovebug,

when is / was your AD? i'm a newly convert so very very blur to what i need to prepare for my wedding. any advices to give?

hi miaka05,

had my wedding 3 weeks ago at Christ the King =)

well, what you need to prepare for the church wedding:

- book church venue
- book the priest, to be your celebrant
- sign up and go for MPC or EE
- prepare wedding mass booklet
- contact church florist
- meet up with wedding buddy, assigned by the church
- get your choir
- arrange for rehearsal, 1 week before the wedding, together with the witness, the flowergirls and ring bearer, or bridesmaid and bestman
- engage caterer for high tea or luncheon
- appoint a few frens to be your wedding coordinator, time keeper, reception, usher, and logistics, to help you overlook the whole process

other than all these, the itsy bitsy stuff, will be getting your ring pillow, souveniours for your guests, the theme or color for your whole wedding to be... hmm... what else did I miss? Help me fill in the blanks if there's anything I miss out..

hope that helps

hey miaka05,

can't remember if u have mentioned whether you have ROM-ed or not. If not, you may want to book the priest, to be your celebrant and solemniser...coz for me, our celebrant is not a licensed solemniser, so we have another priest to solemnise for us...
