Can I print my own inviatation cards using own colour printer?

Hi there,

Anyone print yr own invitation cards? Please advice wat are the things that I need to take note?

hi princess, you can actually print it yourself using your colour printer, but it isn't waterproof unless you have a Laserjet printer which uses toner and not ink. Also, you must consider your quantity, if it's in the range of 100 and up, you will be doing a lot of cutting and folding! Also, it is highly impossible to print the back and front of the sheet of paper aligned as the inkjet printers are not very accurate. It will probably look better if you did one-sided printing.

Overall seems more cons than pros huh?

hi princess.. maybe you can choose images in only 1 color (maybe black outline only). then u print it on color paper. will still look good.... for me we bought fancy paper and only print our names and date ourselves.

Hi there ... As the wedding invites given by the hotel was only 60% of confirmed attendance, i recently designed my own wedding invitation cards (including wordings) & sent it for printing by printers who are able to "print on demand". Double sided laserjet colour printing on 260gsm cards. Qty 150 cards about S$1.80/pc ... As qty increase, price per card reduces.

As I had about 250 cards from the hotel..i gave them to my hubby & my colleagues & relatives.. that took all of it.. thus, we intend to give out the additional cards I designed myself to our friends ... good categorization??

mine is colour laser printed on the artpaper cardstock itself..not hotstamping nor offset printing .. those usually only 1 colour allowed .. more colours = more costly..

I contracted an external printer to print my cards..they provided the paper..i've tried 2 different printers before - Markono.com.sg & wordimage.com.sg

u can try the shops at Bras basah for the paper u want ..if u want to print invites, buy card instead of paper.. anyway 260gsm is artcard, not artpaper ... artpaper weight max 145gsm ... there's many types of artcard, the usual ones are :

Coated
Paper - white
Card - whiet

Uncoated
Card - ivory / white
Offset printing paper

u can also try paper suppliers (go yellowpages & do a search) .. but they usually supply artcards uncut.. meaning its HUGE (about 72cm x 102cm)..

if u not intending to spend the effort to cut it to size yourself ... find paper retailers like those @ Bras Basah or source for a printer that will cut it to size & print for u..

invitation cards usually use uncoated artcard .. ivory obviously will cost more than white ones ..

artcard is glossy right? it may be a bit difficult to write on with certain pens...in the end need to use markers?

I did my own printing for my church invites and dinner inserts using a color laser printer. The outcome is excellent and the effort spent was about 2 days for 200 church 250 dinner. Not to mention that the total cost was less than $50

My church invite is a postcard design, where the front is a full colored PS photo. The back, the invite wordings and a flower pattern at 1 side, in sepia color. It is printed on a smooth 180 gsm paper for colored laser printer.

My dinner invite (the sq type of card) insert is printed on a light pink 100gsm paper in darkish gold color.

I don't think it's very stupid to print the cards yourselves. You can add a personal touch, plus it makes you cherish the whole event even more. My heart melts whenever i see the card.

Actually I printed my design (a collage of a background of a beach and a photo of a pair of hands interlocked with couple rings shown) on glossy paper 230gsm with my Epson R230 printer and then I pasted it on the cover of a matte ART card and I pasted another picture of a map of the location in the card.

By the way, if you print on glossy paper with an inkjet printer, it is waterproof.

Hi, i am going to make pop up invitation card for my wedding. Came out with a design already but will need to send out for cutting, thinking of printing it myself too. Take patient to adjust the alinement of your own printer. Still in progress. Shall update again when it is done.

odod, you probably have to surf around the internet to find some wedding card templates...there's no one template since there are many different types of wedding invitations
