Hi Dino,

I have checked with ROM. I sent an email to ROM and they reply that since we are Singaporean by birth, we have fullfill the residency requirement. so we are able to file the notice online. The officer is the same person who replied me months ago (who advise me to get SML). So the updated rule has passed on to the front-line officers. Good that you mentioned that else I will spent $200 for nothing. Thanks alot.

Hi everyone,

Such a useful thread! I'm currently in Melbourne trying to plan for our wedding in Singapore. I'm going back in 2 weeks (yay!! can't wait) for 2 weeks and hoping to book a venue by then.
Did anyone in the same boat find it difficult or is my timing of 2 weeks a bit underestimating how long I need?

I emailed 5 hotels to arrange viewing.

Thanks for your advice!

Hi Jadedahlia,

it is based on individual. if you have discuss with ur fiance on the expectation, budget and the location and decided on the date, think it will easy to look for one. Since u have narrow down to 5 hotels, 2 weeks should be sufficient.

For me, I spent 2 weeks visiting hotels and put deposit on the 3rd weeks. Besides that, I have to book my church venue, bridal studio and settle my new flat application. so I think you will be fine. Most of the hotel are able to post you the contract so you dun have to worry about it.

Hello Everyone,

My AD is 24/7/2010 and its getting very close and stressful! :p

I'm trying to file our notice of marriage online at ROM's website and wondering if anyone can help me with it
sad.gif

Dino mentioned that we no longer need to meet the requirement of 15 day rule as one of us is a singapore citizen. So when we file our notice, questio 7 states:

I have been resident within Singapore for at least 15 days preceding the date of this notice

Can I assume we click Yes since we're singapore citizen?

Hi Sher! I'm getting stressed too.. my AD is 19 June 2010!

You just asked a very good question so I gave ROM a call. They said for yourself as Singaporean click "YES" and your partner as foreigner "NO" under the question 7. Also the 15 days rule no longer apply!

I vaguely remember your partner is Australian? Hey just like to share some experiences.. are you doing a lunch banquet or dinner??

Hi Stressed Sheep,

Thanks for that!

And yes, my partner is Australian. I'm having a dinner reception at Four Seasons and I've never attended a Singapore wedding and not too sure what to do.

By the way, I heard from the July BTB that there's some music copyright issues so we can no longer play our video/montage with music. They have to be played separately and timed correctly! Just another thing we need to worry about.

Hi Sher, I just saw your posting on another thread on brides planning wedding from Australia! My htb is one too and its been hard planning things from Sydney.

Wow I didn't know about the music copyright thingy... so restrictive.. how about u consider downloading free license music? Downside of it is these music are usually generic loop ones, and they'd most prob have to be classical ones. Check with your videographer and photographer. They should have applied for license to use certain music, see http://blog.reddotphoto.com.sg/?p=1061

free loop musics, not very good but a good digging may get you some ok ones:

Hi all, so glad to find this thread, my fiancee and myself are organising our wedding from Melbourne. AD in 5 Nov 2011, because we have to organise thing form os, so thought better to start prepration as early as possible.
Stressed Sheep and Sher, mind sharing more info on ROM? My fiancee is Sinagporean and I am a Malaysian, so he will need to click "YES" for him as Singaporean and click "NO" for me as as foreigner "NO" under the question 7

Hi Penny,

wow just realised stressed sheep's wedding was over the weekend! hope it went well! Mine is in a month's time!

We started really planning early too as we were flying back for chinese new year so we got our bridal shop package and settled on the venue fairly early. We're only have 12-15 tables so we dont have a lot of choices, which might be a good thing. Spend lots of time going through this forum for recommendations and so far, it's been hassle free for us.

I'll share with you our video/photos etc when its all over and if you like them, I can provide you with all the details for our vendors.

As for ROM, i think thats right. He'll click Yes for him and no for you. You cant lodge till at least June next year so things might change as well.

Thanks Sher, it will be good if you can share your info with me. You must be very excited hur? 1 month to go, so are you in Singapore now? I am headache with the planning, will be back to Singapore and Malaysia to get thing organise during Christmas break, so sad, not able to go back for CNY liao... cause need to reserve leave for wedding ;(

Hi Penny,

I'll be back in Perth 1st week of august and will compile a list for you with our feedback.

I'm in perth and will be in Singapore 1 week before the wedding.I'm excited about the wedding but there's lots to do and we have friends flying in and trying to co-ordinate everything.

My parents still live in Singapore so they have been helping me call makeup artist, bridal shop etc etc.

i didn't go back to cny this year and won't be going back next year as well. We're going on a 3 week honeymoon in Aug/Sep and have to go on unpaid leave!

Haha!! Well, I will be more than happy to get unpaid leave for honeymoon, but just worry my boss will fried me cuttle-fish ;P
Will it be enough time to get things organise if you are only going back 1 week before wedding? We were thinking about going back around 1 month before... future in laws want us to get back as early as possible.
It's good that your parents can help you in getting things oragnised. We tried not to trouble my future in laws in Singapore. But they will be helping us with the banquet venue because they have preference liao.
As for pre-wedding photoshoot, I am engaging a freelance photographer from M'sia to do it in Melbourne because we thought it's more significant as both of us met here in Melbourne and spent most of the time here together.
I have got my gown, so will need to look for AD makeup & hairdo, evening gown, kua, cheongsam, groom's suit, car deco and etc in Singapore, so stress... Should have sign up a bridal house package!!
To make thing worst, we will be having another banquet in M'sia, so I have to source for the above mentioned all over again in M'sia.
A stressfull but exciting process!!

My parents have been doing a lot and actually 80-90% at the wedding are relatives and their friends so they've been kept very busy.

Personally, I find that it might be easier if you make more trips back to singapore than taking a whole month off but that means you'll pay more for flights. Cos Certain things you need to do a few months before. For this month, I've been co-ordinating flowers, makeup, mani/pedi all from Perth and everyone's very responsive to my emails and I get a reply within 24hours.

A few contacts for you to get you started.

This lady, Cherry Au, does makeup and her husband is a wedding photographer. Pretty good comments from others in this forum.

Cherry - http://iciclediamond.multiply.com/
Phillip - www.philip-teo.com

I won't be using them cos I get my photos/makeup through Whitelink (bridal shop) package. They do overseas photoshoot too.

Flowers/Car Deco - http://blissfulthots.multiply.com/
Lots of brides use them for church weddings and I've seen her work. Very nice, prompt reply within a few hours and gave me a lot of options and suggestions.

Wedding Car
http://www.ebustop.com/
I get my bridal car thru whitelink but using them to drive my relatives and friends around for AD. There's other bridal car rental company but very ex so this one seems to be pretty cheap.

Kua, Cheongsam, groom's suit
http://bridalcloset.multiply.com/
Few other brides in my July10 thread are using them.

This should get you started and busy for the week :p

my email is sherlyn2_yap at hotmail so feel free to send me an email

Hi everyone,

I'm so happy that I found this thread, at least I don't feel so lost and alone planning stuff from Melbourne.

Could I check if my FH and I were to get married in Melbourne, do we still have to register with ROM back in Singapore?

sher02

hi cupcakes&cream,

there's a few of us around so you're not alone :p

If you are getting married in Melbourne and signing the australian marriage certificate, it is recognised worldwide and you dont have to register with ROM in Singapore.

Hi Cupcakes&Cream, when is your AD and how is your preparation? So excited to know that you are from Melbourne as well, maybe we can meet up for a coffee to discuss about the prep.
Sher, one more week.... How's thing? Keep us updated.

Hi Penny,

Wedding prep seems to be going alright just have to manage the parents! :p

Not too sure if you know but Singapore has a govt body RIPS which controls the licensing for music for photo montage and video. Had to pay $90+ for each song! Hubby can't be bothered and say just pay..if not have to find royalty free music.
sad.gif
Some hotels very lax cos some played the video montage without license but Four Seasons is very strict.

Dealing with caterers etc from Singapore seems very easy. I get very prompt response from everyone, MUA, wedding band etc etc so organising it is easy. I think the most difficult part for us is managing the difference in customs/traditions and parents' expectation.

I'm flying back tomorrow and i dont know if i can avoid laksa, hokkien mee, satay and sambal stingray..omg..thinking of it makes me drool! durian....yummy...

HTB say to help cope with wedding stress, he'll allow me one pair of charles and keith everyday hahaha..yay..

Ahaha, make sure you don't over-eat. At least not before the wedding, to make sure you are able to fit in your WG.
I heard of RIPS & COMPASS, but seriously don't know how it work. Was told that have apart from $90/song used in montage and video, aslo need to make sure that the hotel/venue has licence to play music in public, am I right?
I am going to take my pre-wed photo soon. Quite excited about that.
Sher, don't forget to share your photos after your wedding

Hi Penny,

My AD is 17 Dec 2011. We've not done much preps other than book the venue up in Mt Dendenong. I've had a few talk about how we envision the wedding to be but that's about it I suppose.

Whereabouts in Melbourne do you live?

Mt Dandenong... Nice!!! Will be very good for summer wedding as well. I can imagine that you will be having heaps of cupcakes on wedding day. I stay in Glen Iris. Yourself?

Hi gals,

I've just found this thread and trust me, I feel so glad that I'm not alone! I'm currently in Melbourne, AD will be May next year.. Still have abit of time (I hope!)

As for the music copyright issue, i'm not sure if you have heard about this. We just need to apply and pay COMPASS SGD50 or SGD100 (depending on what you have) and everything will be sorted out. Details will be here:
http://www.compass.org.sg/cIndex140.aspx

Hope this helps!!

I don't think I have done much yet, but luckily still have more than 1 year to prepare for it. Have decided on the venue, photographer, now looking for videographer. Because I don't take up standard bridal shop package, so have to look for vendors individually, so seems a lot to be done. Headache

let me know what you need help with cos I still have the contact numbers of people for my wedding and you can always try and call them to find out the prices.

My bridal car chauffeur's really nice and he's been doing it for over 10 years. He even told me I picked very good caterers cos he's been
eating at all the buffet reception every weekend so he knows!

Hi Sher, welcome back. Your video is lovely... You look a bit nervious before throwing your bouquet ;)
It will be great if you can pass me the contact of your vendors.

Hi Pi88y,

I've never knew this but it is all staged! I had to throw the bouquet twice cos the first time the girls weren't fighting for it haha.

Food - Neo Garden (Buffet Lunch) and Elsie's Kitchen (church high tea). Everyone enjoyed their food so highly recommended. Delivery on time as well.

Florist - Mia (Blissfulthots). She did my church flowers but on her photo album she's done reception and bridal car as well.
http://blissfulthots.multiply.com/
Very prompt response and I have no idea when it comes to flowers and she was very patient and helped me with the selection.

Bridal Car Chauffeur - I cant remember his name but this is his phone number 91466289. I dont know what are the charges as mine was a package with Whitelink.

Wedding band - http://yourstrulyweddings.blogspot.com/ I paid about $1200 for 2 sets of 45mins each. Everybody enjoyed the music and makes a huge difference having a live band.

Reception was at Four Seasons Hotel. They were very professional and all I had to do was to makeup and look pretty the minute we checked in. They have banquet managers/co-ordinators who will handle playing the march in music, arrange my dress for me before march in, everything was done professionally and I didn't have to stress about anything. Food was really good as well. As we're in Aust, Four Season's ballroom suited our needs as max table capacity is 15 tables for the smaller ballroom with a private cocktail area.

Makeup - Jean http://glamartistry.blogspot.com/. She did the makeup for my 5 bridesmaid and both mums and 2 sis in laws. Paid only $60 per person so one of the cheapest around.

hmm..i think i've got most of it covered. Let me know what other vendors you need
