Hi everybody........
Has anyone played mj with an extra set of flowers?? ie., 12 flowers + 4 animals instead of the normal 8 flowers + 4 animals. Besides the 2 obvious difference it would made to the game ie., everyone having a chance of getting an extra double and it being harder to get 'ping wu', any other pros and cons??

totally agree, a real mahjong game would be great. I have a Gundam Mahjong game for the DS and it's really cool because it explains a lot of the scoring and variable rules (albiet in Japanese, but that wouldn't be a problem if it were translated).
One thing you have to understand though is that those games are Japanese mahjong. It's the same concept as Hong Kong mahjong and variations in other parts of Asia, but there are a lot more rules and strategy. (HK arcades have the competitive style machines with Japanese rules and a payoff system, but they are only really patronized by burnouts and gambleholics).
HK people take it seriously and even have some comedy movies about it, but the truth is their version is based primarily on luck and is played as a gambling game (or just for fun/hanging out). All of my friends play this version, but none of them can understand the Japanese style.

- smoking point is outside the clubhouse or at the higher levels .

Q. what if i have rubber time ?
A : regulars will receive first priority
Q. i'm a beginner , will i be group with pros ?
A : as above , respondents are to state their skill level so as to level the playing field . i won't wanna play against a table of pros as well
Q. what if i'm non-chinese ?
A : please email me too . i have indian friends who can play better mahjong than some of my mandarin speaking peers .
Q. what if i wanna learn mahjong but scared of losing money ?
A : " i don't know what to say " - famous saying
there are other things to do at the club as well eg. late night bowling , beer , swim , tennis etc .
