Ang Bao - How much to give ?

Hi there,

Any1 care to share the ang bao rates on the actual day wedding or have the lists of who to give angbaos to & how much...

As in how much angbao rates to be give to:

1) make up artist
2) jiemeis
3) Photographer
4) JP
5) The person who open the bridal door

Brides should give to who...?
Bridesgroom should give to who...?

Who else do we bride/bridegroom need to give angbaos to?

it all depends...
for me...

1) $20-$28 (cos she already earn my ampoulses)
2) $28-$88 (depending how close they are & how much they helped during my wedd. If its just morning the opening door, probably $28 cos my mum will be giving & hubby will give them opening door angbao to share. Thos who helped & followed me whole day & at dinner recep, will give more lor...)
3) PG ($28-$68 depending what is the pkg negotiated)
4) JP same as makeup artist
5)open bridal door ($12)

It all depends..
i thinnk i will settle Jiemei & ask hubby to settle xiong dis...

pardon my ignorance but why must we give ang baos to the MUA and PG/ VG? They are already paid by us for engaging their services....

Fiona - good luck gesture. Sometimes, when we eat at chinese restaruant to celebrate birthday, we also give AP to the ladies who help us cut the birthday cake for good luck right?!

My husband and I also gave AP to the hotel coordinator who put together our solemnization together. Also for good luck.

Hope u gals don't mind I join in. Yes, we do need to give ang pows to the driver and xiong di who drives too.

By the way, I also understand we must give ang pows to siblings who are younger than us and to all the small kids and baby of the family <faint>

Hi Yoshiko, my understanding if we need to give APs to people who give us tea during tea ceremony - so it includes younger (although may be married) siblings, and younger cousins/nephews/nieces who give us tea.
