Advice needed: Solemization Ceremony during AD Banquet

What do u all think having the solemization ceremony during the AD Banquet? I know most of you either having it on a separate day from ur AD or on the same day as ur AD, but before the banquet which is abt 6.30pm. I'm thinking of holding it during the banquet. please advice.

hmm... maybe not during banquet coz everyone will be busy eating & not watching u two.
Hold it before ur banquet.
Save trouble & money.
Have u thot abt having it at a separate seminar room or at the banquet hall itself?
One advantage is that people won't be late easily
 
u mean inviting all my guests to come in early to witness the ceremony? As u noe la, most guests come in late.. so hard to get them come early like abt 6.30pm to jus witness ur solemization ceremony..
 
maybe not all..
just close friends and family members.
Jus a suggestion.
seen it succesfully done before at my fren's wedding
 
mi & hubby thinking of holding it during the banquet is oso becos we are hoping everyone can witness our solemization ceremony.. haizz.. now I think got to think of other alternatives liao..
 
Hi gers.. I also planning to have my solemization just b4 my luncheon..
Here's my plan:
12.30 - cocktail
1pm - solemization
1.30- lunch starts
4.30 - finish

What do u think abt it?? Will it work or too rush? Do you think tat the guest will be hungry by 1pm?? kekekee...

it shld be ok.. maybe u might wan to inform ur guests that lunch will onli be served @1.30pm after ur solemization? so that they can eat a slightly heavier breakfast on that day.. if not later they grumble then it might not be too nice.. hehe
 
Yap.. probably will add in a line in my invitation card to let them know tat there will a soleminzation b4 lunch..
now is onlyleft with the morning program of the tea ceremony part.. arrggghh.. headache!! KEKEKE.. sure very rush!!!!!

i m oso havin my solmnization b4 my dinner starts.. at 7pm.. if starts on time.. thk can end by 715pm... tats wat i m told lo..

We are also having our solemnisation ceremony before our ROM dinner.

It will starts at 6.30pm sharp at Roof Garden then we will start dinner at 7.45pm in The Straits Room. Thereafter, we might move to the music room for some dance!

The reason for doing so, is just to treat our family, relatives and close friends a meal to celebrate our solemnisation

We will have having another wedding in NZ for another group of relatives & close friends.

I think it's important to let relative knows that there's solemnisation ceremony involved. Everything will start on time.

Basically, I don't really care if my relatives come on time, what matters is my family & friends come on time :p
 
Hi gals,

I'm oso planning to have my solemnization just before the start of dinner. Am targetting at around 7:30pm or 7:45pm.

I'll only be inviting close frens and relatives. So a few days prior to the wedding, I intend to call them to remind them to be punctual/ early for the dinner.

Do you think that will help?

I had my solemnization b4 my dinner commences

All my guest came on time coz i stated on my invitation card that solemnization will commence at 8pm sharp, followed by dinner

If u r thinking of having your solemnization, then best if b4 the dinner started

thanks for all ur suggestions. I disucss with my hubby le.. he say will do it b4 the cocktail reception abt 6.45pm as cocktail will start @ 7pm. den dinner start @7.45pm..

So which means to say that only ur close friends and family would be attending the solemnization?

Actually u will need to chk with ur hotel if u need to pay additional for having solemnization b4 the banquet (presume u will nt be using ballrm)

Hi green, to be safe, do remind ur guest again 3 days b4 ur AD that ur solemnization wld start b4 the banquet and get them to arrive early
 
if you have bnaquet at the hotel, you can ask them to provide you a function room that is free of charge. but the function room capactiy is rahter samll, about 30 head count only.

If they dun have enough function roon, then you can do it at the stage of your ballroom where u had your banquet.

I am one such person! My solemnization is at 6.30pm, prior to my wedding dinner. Our hotel is nice enough to arrange a counter for our solemnization by the pool or a VIP room (for 30pax) on level 3 if it rains(at no extra cost)

I just worked out my itinerary and I realised there's not much break in between though my HTB said I can rest a bit before the guests start arriving at 7.30pm.

Which hotel are you holding and when is your AD?

juz a reminder, if do solemnization on the AD is ok but muz hold the solemnization on time as there's a rule, the solemnizer will only wait for 15min the most i tink, if drag the time too long, the solemnizer can call off the solemnization. Coz my dad told me, as he is a solemnizer also.

need some advice, how should the schedule gonna be like if i would like all the guests to be seated n after we marched in already, go to the stage and solemnise in front of all the guests. we will be having a luncheon. i am afraid if all the guests wont come in time

Hi, I am a Jan 08 bride. I also decided to have my solemnization right after 1st march in. I think it's cool to have all friends and family to witness this impt moment. Plus, i have a lazy husaband. He prefers to do it all at once. With regard to the punctuality issue, i also think that is a big problem. But i am going to put in my invitation card that solemnization is during wedding dinner. And ask everyone to be on time.

ur AD is at furama.. Me planning to haf it there too.. anything to share or take note... Me thinking to haf a poolside dinner...
 
hi all....my AD was on the 8th Oct..hehe and my solemnisation starts at 8pm right after my first march in....

luckily more than 90% of my guest have arrived..otherwise..we were told by our banquet manager that i may have to march out after our solemnisation if less than 60% guests are present...*phew*

im so happy everything went smoothly as planned =)..our dinner started at 8.20pm!
 
hi nicole...i was very worried abt the guest punctuality too..as like u...my AD is on a monday!!!

hengz my guests all came early as promised hehehe...thats y my dinner can start so early...it ended before 10.30pm =)

Ya, your suggestion is good. By then 90% of your guests should have reached.

Just to share my experience...
We stated very clearly (and informed our guests personally) on the invitation cards that our Solemnization Ceremony will be held at 7.45pm. However, not many guests were present yet. Should have done it immediately after our 1st march-in. Really regretted.

we did not even indicate that we have a solemnisation ceremony at the dinner...coz initially we've plan to hold it at 5pm with only some close friends and relative...but changed our mind in the end and decided to put it after 1st march in...but we cldnt amend it on our cards coz it was oredi printed...

hengz..we managed to inform all our friends and relative verbally and all turn up at 7.30pm...so we managed to start everything on time...by 7.45pm all my guests oredi seated....*phew*

I'm quite upset and disappointed especially after watching the video. Those who turned up early or on time were mostly our close friends & relatives.

yeah i guess i was lucky =) ...but i did called up one friend from different groups to be a rep and remind all the others about punctuality ahahahah...it work! and save my time calling up to inform each individually hehehe..

solemnisation ceremony will only take only abt 10 mins..will u be having ur cake cutting ceremony right after? coz if yes, that will most prob take another 10 mins....after which still got 1st dish presentation...some hotels may have special performance so will take another 10 mins maybe
?

Thks. Ya, mine was over and my JP is Mr Lee (can't remember his fullname).

As what Torhuiz has mentioned, the ceremony will be completed within 10-15mins.

not messy for mine..coz the cake was placed at one corner of the stage...and once my solemnisation is over..the banquet staff quickly removed the tables and chairs...and the emcee will announce for us to proceed to cake cutting ceremony..so have to be well coordinated...but shld be quite ok =)

nope..i arrange it such that i continue with my cake cutting after solemnisation....while im still on stage...coz i think it is abit weird to go down and up again to cut cake leh..lol

Actually you dont have to worry so much.
The dummy cake would be set up at a side in advance, so after your solemnisation ceremony you just need proceed to your cake cutting ceremony. Just leave to rest (removal of tables & chairs) to the staff.

For me, I went down the stage as I need to get changed for my 1st march-in and my cake cutting ceremony.
 
i dun find it weird coz the stage id not too big..so moving away the tables and chairs is not a big issue =)

i agree with deery, u dun have to worry too much..they have done it a million times..is nuthin new to them =)

unlike deery, rite after my 1st march was my solomenisation...so i arrange my cake cutting aftr the ceremony ....and following my 2nd march in will be champagne pouring...

hi, i intend to hold my solemnization b4 my banquet starts...maybe at e cocktail area...can anyone advise me how do i cum in to the stage? (my coordinator will set up a small stage for me at the cocktail area)..

i intend to cum in wif my dad and he will hand me over to my FH. Is there suppose to be a different march in song? do i need an emcee to announce it?

I also intended to hold my soleminzation on my AD as well. But I will hold it after the 1st march in. Why do you want to hold it at the cocktail area? The guest are starting to come in at that point of time, won't it disturb the soleminzation?
 
erm...cos i ever saw my frd hold it tis way b4 and it turn out quite well...im oso not veri sure leh...shall discuss wif my coordinator on tis...

i initially also thought of holding my solemnization at the cocktail area...(actually was suggested by my solemnisor)...thought it was a gd idea...but later got to give up the idea coz the cocktail area is quite small...environment also like not nice enough to hold the ceremony..

i guess it depends on location and environment of the hotel...not all suitable...
