Hi, I'm new to this forum. Totally have no idea how to plan for a wedding. What is needed or not. Is it just get a wedding package from a bridal shop and a banquet? I'm sure there's more to it.

Can anyone advise me on this and the budget needed? How long is the planning process normally? We are thinking of year 2014.

Thanks!

Hi Elizabeth!

I'm also new to this forum. I realised that the forum isn't that active...

i think the budget depends very much on how you want to spend for each of the items.

the bigger costs would be those that you have mentioned, bridal studio and banquet.

Other stuff would be more onto the AD itself and those traditional related ones like GDL etc.?

When in 2014 are you getting married? I'm also thinking of 2014!

Most ppl sign up for packages from bridal shops but some ppl prefer to source for their own photographers n makeup artist. i personally source my own coz both my makeup artist & photographer are my friends so i got a very good deal from them! wheeeee! Its time for u to source around n maybe u can take some pre-wedding shoots to check out their skills first before u get the wedding shoots from them. also u need to look ard n decide what kinda theme/budget u wanna set for your banquet. so many thgs to consider!

You should first choose an auspiciou date. Then start viewing banquet venues. Then research or visit BS. Then things will start falling in as the date comes nearer.

Hi Elizabeth, I agree with Chloe. Most bridal packages would include bridal photography only. There are two types of photography, one for bridal shoots (indoor/outdoor), and another for actual day. You will need to source for the actual day (morning customary and banquet) photographer if it is not included in your package. Personally, I used the bridal studio photographer for my bridal shoots; and used Nxck Gxh Photography for my actual day.

Hi Elizabeth,

Hope you're still reading this thread...

I agree with Li Li, you should start looking at the dates first, or at least the month.

Like what Chloe mention, there's only pre-bridal photoshoots for most bridal packages. You need to source for the Actual Day photographer, videographer (if you intend to have one).

There are a lot of nitty gritty stuff apart from just the bridal package and banquet. Things to be bought for the tradition, montages, bridal car, helper's clothings, wedding card inserts printing etc.

Once you start working on it, you'll probably get to know what to expect.
