now of cos not lah. the kids now get a spanking new building in the heart of sg leh. in its old location a lot of ppl din even know there was a sch there, what more a 'branded' one.
we only had half classrooms with one ceiling fan and those chairs with pathetically puny 'desks' attached. u'd still kena chalk dust even if u sit at the back of the class cos with a grand total of 2 rows of chairs, u'r only 3m from the board. worst was during class tests, we had to write for 1+hrs on that 'desk' which kept sliding down and refused to lock in place. there was once i couldn't lift my head after the test cos my neck and shoulders ached so badly!
proper classrooms were a rare sight until they built 10 container classrooms at the backyard, which were mainly used by the humans scholars. i think if u studied there u'd climb 4 floors to use the toilet everytime cos the ground level toilets were smelly, filthy and cramped. lockers were rusty and creaky. haha i really made it sound quite terrible hor.
imagine the shock when i visited HC. it was such a stark contrast. they had huge fixed classrooms (we used the floating system), air-conditioned ones for the humans and LEP scholars, with dedicated class benches and so many canteens to choose from!!
but then I liked it there la. the graffiti-filled lockers/ground/walls made it very homely in a way. and i preferred having a compound with white walls to a... er... beige one (oops!). looked more cheerful and spacious. the campus was very small so there was a lot of ren2 qi4 wherever u went. but that also meant less places for hanky panky la haha.
and yes I really liked the uniform. hee. i don't think i'd have managed well having my movement restricted by an A-line skirt!
*sigh* those were the days!!
