ACtually, I feel that cannot really attribute the stress on bones to running. All sports that puts pressure and impact on the bone structures do contribute to the problems I know. But there are many apparels nowadays that ease the stress. A good pair of shoes, proper running posture, suitable running terrain all will help. For a lot of people with 'bones issues' like bad knee for eg, they still get advice from doctors to go jogging, because it actually helps to strengthen the joints. Jogging, not running. =P
Perhaps drinking 牛奶 since young would have had a significant influence on how strong bones will be when the years start to pile up?
Anyway, I used to pump iron like a beast back in sec sch days. Coupled with playing football before, during and after school hours every single day, used to be quite fit.
Then 3 years of inactivity, 2 years of 'non-physical' NS later, I'm now this walking elephant. But like you said, I'm glad I have generally 'okay' shoulders. So long as I get around to getting rid of the bulges (minus the one in the nether regions) I should be fine. Long way to go man. Haiz.
