hi simpleman / powder,
in a sch, 'seafood' are rare. So, those crabs are really powerful. Thankfully, they are hardly in camp in the evenings. That's when the absolute 'power' are in the hands of NSFs. But anyway, I think the army has evolved alot. Men are treated with much more respect in schools.
It is after passing out and when posted to units that we see the contrast between the NSF and the regulars. It is pride and professionalism vs wayang and idling. It is common that NSF becomes scap-goats. Another common scenario is the storemen getting charged during an internal audit. Basically, he took over a store that was in a mess to begin with. He cannot say no to the handover either. It is actually an easy scapgoat that the CSM and Quarter Master looked for.
But to charge an officer is a major thing at least in my unit. NSF officers sign lots of extras but not to the extend of getting charged. I was lucky, I managed the unit finances and petty cash. So, most PSOs gave me some face.
