simpleman, that's the unhealthy way to lose weight haha... I also lost 3kg when I went thru a bad patch in my r/s w my hb (before marriage). Pple said I looked so gaunt and sick. My cheeks were really sunken.

Haha.. ya, I just put up lor... so far too little stuff to put up.. :P hey.. how do you do that mini msg window on your homepage?? I can't seem to find the function to do it. Also, do you get email alerts everytime I post something? How can I disable that? Sorry... must be irritating :P

For the mini msg window - that is actually a tagboard. You will need to do a couple of things.
firstly you go to my site and click on the cbox (bottom right of the msg window). It will point you to a website, you need to sign-up (free) and they will provide you the html code. Just need to save those code.

then you go to your site and press customize option. Choose the custome CSS. Now paste the cbox html code there.. and you will have your own tagboard.

To disable/enable email alerts, go to your home page and click settings (top right hand corner).

Ceci, I guess when you're sad, your blood pressure increases and your muscles tense up, which is why some pple feel a "squeeze" in their chest area and even suffer a heart attack.

speaking of caning, my bf was very surprised at the kind of punishments my grandmother/mum/aunt used on my cousin and i when we were younger when we happen to talk about this last night.

did you find chilli/medicated oil/clothes pegs acceptable 'tools' for punishment other than the more common caning and kneeling at the altar? i'm referring to the era up to very early 90's.

ok I think that sounded a bit scary. I meant, using chilli/medicated oil as threats near the mouth/eyes, then clothes pegs to peg on arms/ears etc. when kneeling at the altar...

i dunno why but we didn't think it was thaaaaat bad then leh.
 
wah kao, i never had these kinda treatments b4...but i wasnt tat bad when i was young..haha..

but i think canning is pretty common at tat era...

i some how believe in the cane. even if it is to threaten, ie whacking the floor. yes, caning, medicated oil, knelling at altar etc were the type of punishments during my era. looking back i think it did my siblings n i alot of good. my mom was the most feared person at home, but she has the kindness heart...haha

so ah siao, 'torturing' is also love la.

i dont know what type of punishments parents give to their kids nowadays. less pocket money, curfews, less tv hours???
 
really ah? got such treatment meh? let you dun have food first then give you all those... like that i always naughty loh... cos i like to eat all those stuff since young haha
 
RaRa, these punishments were v common what... I think they should be revived!! Haa.. nowadays kids are too audacious and naughty already. I remember last time in primary school, the teachers would make the naughty kids stand for hrs outside the classtoom, squat by the drain pulling their ears, or scotch tape their mouths! Nowadays teachers are totally at the kids' and parents' mercy...haiz.

ceci, my bf said he'd rather be whacked with the cane till skin break and bleed also don't agree with the use of the other types of torture, even if it's just to threaten.

hmm but threaten only lah. which parent would wanna blind their kids.

latino, i also believe in using the cane, without abusing it. children nowadays, if u hit them, they will hit u back and scold u. i witnessed many times on the train. the child will just slap the mum. *shakes head*
 
G~gal, actually they can be revived, IF we, the future parents, don't complain so much about teachers and be overprotective of our kids when we ourselves become parents. but i think it'll still be hard.

that's why i don't wanna teach lah... no kick *lol*
 
haha latino.. i also believe that caning works... but last time its my neighbour (my mum's best friend) who caned us.. my mum can't bear to cane us.. she too kind hearted liao...

ya ggal.. i feel that parents nowadays over protect the children.. if teachers caned them kena sue... should let the teachers discipline the kids... i wouldn't care if my kid kena caned becos of misbehaviour
 
Haha RaRa, if I rather be a police instead of teacher. At least police can still scold and discipline the criminals. Teachers have to refrain from cussing or verbally abuse the kids.

Ceci, your mum so cute lor... get someone else to be the baddy!! I also feel that teachers should be allowed to discipline the naughty kids, but within certain limit la... dun beat them till they bleed :P
 
my small nephews and cousins also like that... once i slapped my young cousin for scolding vulgar... the parents see liao dun dare say anything... cos they nvr scold him or hit him to tell him its wrong... now he doesn't dare to scold.. at least in front of me.. cos i have merciless just hit him...

i wonder if my kids will be tortured by me a not.. i think i can be quite fierce when disciplining kids..
 
ya la ggal.. not until they bleed.. but a certain level of pain to make them remember it in their heart... nowadays kids dun learn by the good way... must let them taste pain... haha!
 
Ya I think I'll be quite fierce also. I told my hb.. you better dun sing a different tune from me ah... else next time the kids will cry "daddy!!! mummy scold me!!!". I told him, I'll smack them upside down if they misbehave like those pole-dancing rascals in the MRT.. haha..
 
ggal, i agree. sometimes i cannot tahan kids nowdays. so rude, no manners, no discipline, music blasting like everyone is DEAF. like those in train or bus. they are so rowdy, no consideration for others. such a nuisance to public!!

aiyooo...if only they can be punished or even caned !!
 
whahaha!! ggal i also can't tahan those kids! but comes to disciplining the kids.. either one have to keep quiet when the other is disciplining... if not the kids will not be afraid and will answer back the parents...
 
i am also very fierce to youngsters. if i am a mother, i think i will be those 'step-mother' type.

like my young colleagues, when they make mistakes or hv bad attitude. i will sit them down one by one and talk to them...just hearing each other out. sometimes i can scold quite badly. but once work over, i will treat them to a good meal.

sometimes so heartache to scold cos they are like my daughters but i rather i do it then they get it harder from others.
 
Ya... when I was a kid, both my parents would whack me...esp my dad. He had a very short temper :P But strangely as I grew older, I became closer to my dad. My mum was the one who nagged me a lot more :P
 
my dad dun cane... he knock my head with his knuckles.. so bad that i will cry and siam once i see him raise his fists... until one day my godfather scolded him for doing that as t will make me become 'stupid' ... maybe cause head injuries... cos it is very darn painful
 
only fierce to youngsters who dont behave... think everyone is reasonable and has their own way of disciplining young ppl... :-)
 
Ceci, when I left my last job, I did my successor a huge favour by cleaning up my work area. Guess what I found under some files? A squashed up cockroach.. hahaha... I should have left it there... :P

Hehe simpleman... we dun have kids but we have enuf experience being with naughty kids to know how we don't want our kids to behave :P

Most people can talk about discipling kids or how they do not want to see certain behaviour. And these very same people do not discipline the kids the way they thought about it previously.

I am not saying that I am an expert but bringing up kids is more than just discipline - one of the most important thing is not to discipline or teach by words but to show or demonstrate by example.

And all these teaching by examples have to start early. Like people who smoke and they tell their children that smoking is bad. Do you think your child is going to respect what you are saying.

Or adults who are habitual liars (and do not keep promises), do you expect your child to tell the truth all the time?
