my brain is screwed... i itchy backside go see cars yday and saw a beautiful baby Jag... haiz...
i did my 4-room reno at 19k, it's quite tasteful to be honest, even have a big buddha head. as for furnishings/appliances i brought some stuff over from my old house and got a DIY-man to refurbish/varnish/re-upholster Everything to a darkwood colour. old furnitures are very well-made and can be refurbished easily... best thing is they take from my old house, and deliver to my new house and i save on shifting! just to give u an idea... for my dining table set, re-upholster is $11 per chair and $8 to tint to darker shade of wood, $19 x 6 chairs, table was around $20. total cost was around $400+ for the dining set and another 6-7 pieces of furniture. Curtains get from JB, the guy will drive to your place and u save half the cost (most of my schoolmates used same guy wayyyy before me). i did the house design with my Designer fren over a sat afternoon in 3hrs (we all sure have an arty farty fren!). else sofa $600, hacking 4walls to build 3walls, Laminate, Grilles etc only 19k. i used company owned by the local president of reno-contractors assoc or something like tat to avoid bullshit, and this fella will Never cheat me cos his reputation worth more than my small business. and it's very unlikely tat he employs shady sub-contractors either.
end of the day, renovate and spend wisely... houses we buy in our 20s/30s Very Unlikely to be our Final or Dream Home... we are VERY LIKELY to sell after 5-7yrs... most sporeans upgrade or will aspire to upgrade. if we dun even know this about ourselves and start budgeting 50k 70k for reno, then our heart will be Pain Pain!
