Salsa, I stayed at Victoria Hotel in Melbourne when I was there leh. Quite like it. Very good location. Easy access to shopping. Heh. Else ask ah siao to recommend lor. Din he study there or stg? Or did I dream tat up?

G~gal, go Greece leh. Heard so many good reviews on it. Drool...

Powder, no, China for dinner is not considered hols. U think wat? Sit plane means go hols ah? Chey...

Morning...

Laundry I also thought about Greece esp since i love historical sites. But the cost is quite prohibitive. More expensive than going to Europe! And everything there is in Euro too.

Anyway, I've got my sight set on Moscow or Egypt

I went to Siem Reap, Cambodia last Sep. It is worth a visit - in whatever way you look at it. And it is now cheap as the budget airlines are flying there now.

Laundry, yes going w hb for our honeymoon. If M'sia then may as well remain in Sg

Anyway I feel that Moscow has a better mix of cultural and historical sites compared to Greece.

Simpleman, Siem Reap is also one of the must-visit places for me since I'd love to see the Angkor Wat up close ever since I studied a bit of its history in uni. But while we dun have kids yet, think we shld venture somewhere further first ;)

Wat's good to see in Moscow? I only know the Kremlin & vodka!! Actually I'm not sure of the cultural & historical sites in Greece as well. I juz love the white buildings set against a sea of blue. Picturesque. Egypt sounds nice too but apparently the pyramids' tunnels are very narrow. I claustrophobic. Eww...

Places to visit in Moscow: St Basil cathedral (the one with colourful onion-shaped domes), the Renaissance/Baroque-style Moscow Metro train station, the Red Square (where Lenin's mausoleum is kept), Pushkin Fine Arts Museum and the GUM dept store

Oh if I go to Egypt, I definitely want to visit the Valley of the Kings where the great pharoahs are buried, and travel down the River Nile. Egyptian history is fascinating!

ggal, My feeling is that much of european architechture, museums, historal artefacts will be there for a long long time for us to visit. I have visited most of western europe and must say that it has a long history and I will probably visit either end this year or next year (this time round - spain, portugal and the likes).

However, i find that in our own backyard like indo china, asean and certain parts of china, they are continuously being "raped" by tourism and development. Most places will change tremendous over the next 10 years or so. And if we don't visit them they will be gone for good.

For eg - the nomadic lifestyle of mongolia is already under threat and very soon it will be gone forever.

Just my thoughts but I guess each of us are at different stage of our lives and will have different perspective.

Hi Simpleman, true... that's something I've not considered. Still I'm just concerned (selfishly :P) that we won't get to travel so far away once kids arrive.

Simpleman, me too! I would love to go Mongolia. Sounds like my kind of hols. Heheheh... Live in a Mongolian Ger for a while. & ride horses without saddles. Sigh... Dream... Quite siong to get there though.

I'm very sad... I missed the opportunity to go to Mongolia for a community project this June. Quota was full by the time I decided.

It would have been the experience of a lifetime.

Can i ask? How do you get lobang for community project? I always wanted to join one as i feel that it would make me appreciate Singapore and my loved ones more.

But i never ever get such lobangs...

Addy, think you can contact World Vision... I got a fren who used to join this org on their overseas trips to build schools, dig longkangs, etc in developing countries.

I got to know about it thru a colleague. His friend is part of the project.

you can check out Habitat for Humanity.

I have no idea... i only donate $$. But this fren used to volunteer for a few overseas projects by WorldVision so I guess they are only too happy to have free labour join them.

hmm, i mean, firstly, i dun have money mah, so at least can contribute in some other ways. secondly, as a singaporean, u'd prob never get a chance to build a house on your own in your lifetime. thirdly, i would really really love to visit mongolia. *sigh*

haha laundry, u have a long war to fight leh!! it will really never end...

*sings* this is a song that doesn't end... it just goes on and on my friend... some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'd continue singing it forever just because this is the...

I know. But cannot resist leh. Eheheh... I not sacrificing my hands ah. Keyboard can lah. Not mine. Office one.

RaRa... the song keeps replaying in my head now leh. All ur fault.

la pi xiao xin is Crayon Shin-chan. Japanese manga character. the one with the bushy eyebrows.

the song is quite nice mah haha.

Arrgghh!!! I juz stole the 2007 Mazda calendar from my colleague's table! Eheheh... Will go confess my crime later but I'm keeping it! Nice leh! CX7, RX8, MX5, Mazda 2, 3, 5, 6. *wipes drool*
