Dec Baby you like cartoons too?? I'm an animation/anime fan. Sadly, I've yet to watch any Pixar/Dreamworks movie since The Incredibles and Shrek 2. Open Season seems like another off shoot of critter cartoons like Mandagascar, Over the Hedge etc. I wanna watch Flushed Away and looking forward to Shrek the 3rd!

Laundry.. me! me! I recently went to watch Dim Sum Dollies' Little Shop of Horror... dam funny! And the songs were nice. Only prob was the lighting. The other musical I went to was Forbidden City. Got free tix but the seats are a bit far out. Music was good and bought the CD which hb listened to a gazillion times.
 
G~gal, why u got free tixs one? I wanted to watch Cabaret. Tat fell thru. Want to watch Notre Dame de Paris but tixs ex leh. I dun wanna buy the cheapest ones and watch fleas dancing on the stage.

LAundry... anime IS always Japanese leh.. keke... Hb's fren just bought him the Samurai 7 DVD. Just downloaded into the new iPod I bought him so we can watch in BKK! THe free tix to Forbidden City is thru hb's lobang lah... Hehe... else we also won't pay to watch.. too ex. But not the best seats of coz... so Kit Chan was sort of roach-size.. not as bad as flea lah.
 
Har? I thought anime is short for animation? Shrek all these are animations mah. Erm... Watever. I like Naruto. I can watch it over & over & over again. Heheh. Initial D, Hunter, Monster, (the super old) Slam Dunk etc. Wasn't Samurai 7 showing on Central some months back?
 
Anime is actually a "Japlish" (Japanese-English) word for animation if I'm not wrong ;) ANyway, I don't think Samurai 7 was shown on Central before.. maybe Samurai X which is totally different. Samurai 7 is a cool anime adaptation of the Akira Kurosawa classic "Seven Samurai".

I like to watch Inuyasha, The Count of Monte Cristo and 12 Kingdoms! HEhe... I bought about 100 episodes of Inuyasha... the rest borrowed from my fren (too ex to collect all). I also watched Vampire Hunter D...dam cool. The latest anima on Arts Central "The Get Backers" is also v interesting...

So nice to find another anime fan...

I've watched Phantom when I was in sec school (got student price and bulk discount then). But I realise I'm not a major fan of overseas productions and musicals. Hb and I are starting to enjoy local theatre productions. 2 of our favourites this yr are Wild Rice's "The Magical Fundoshi" and "The Campaign to Confer the Public Star on JBJ". Both were superb and hilarious :D
 
Got lah. Samurai 7. Gathering of 7 samurais to help a rice village fight off bandits? The group is led by Kambei. Ya, ya. I like Inuyasha too. Also a pretty old anime liao.

I watched Phantom during school days too. Actually I slept thru it lah. Ahahah... Vague memories of chandelier falling. Tat's all. Oh, & Cats! My friend got molested by 1 of the cats. They came offstage!

We haven't watched Samurai yet so gd thing our fren bought for us. Actually Inuyasha is neverending leh.. my fren said the anime series ended but the story still continues in the manga version.

Ah siao, I've seen Evo before. At the Jackie Chan event at Kallang. That was the launch of Evo 9 rite? All I know is MIVEC engine! Powerful until all your neighbours know wat time u leave home and wat time u come back!

Morning! Early in the morning and I'm thinking too much already. I spoke to my (ex?) mil last nite. She asked for my advice on my bil who wants to go overseas for his studies. She's more concerned about him going wayward than about the financials. I'm caught between mother and son's POV. I find overseas studies an invaluable experience. I'd be packed in a split second if I had the financial means to go. Yet I dunno how a mother thinks. I wouldn't want to be held responsible if my bil really strayed. He's a good kid, but easily influenced. Wonder if what I've learnt about spousal "control" helps here. Be there for him, yet not try to control him. These are adults leh (my bil is almost 21. Tat makes him an adult!).

I know this is the totally wrong thread since it's supposedly for singles. But we all know it's not true so I dun care! Post here!! Mwahahahah....

Aiyah, I help u lah. Powder hor, last time hor, got to struggle thru hardship to fund his own overseas education in China. Everyday dig sweet potatoes for meals, walk 1 mile to the uni campus and study under candlelight. But he persevered and graduated with top honours. Today he's the head honcho of Panda Bear (China) P.L. and is aiming to change his car (again!) to the Lexus RX300.

Forgot to add, she really has such an example with 1 of her relatives. Hits too near home for comfort I guess.
 
erm... cannot lah, warao... everyone knows i vereee proud of my deeplomaaa maah... the secret in making it, is to not hold any happening position, be super low profile, and be making more than those in the happening position... keke.

now overseas education har? hmm... something i've always wanted but could not afford. then by the time i can, i dun need liao... I think it's a very very good thing and we shuld encourage pple to find their way overseas, becos it's during this time tat u form your Character...

Laundry, I've always been an advocate of overseas education (cos I wish I had one) and the School of Hard Knocks as well. I think parents today (and also in my time) are over-protective of their kids. I think at 21, parents should stop think of the child as a "child" anymore. Time to grow up, go out and get some bruises and scars. If the parents have brought up the child well, there's no fear that he/she will stray cos the child would have the right values to live by.
 
I guess we are talking about what kinda hard knocks. Some knocks have no return. Erm.. Ok, tat sounds weird. I'm talking about those kids who go overseas for studies, engage in drugs and get caught. Tat's a death sentence. No recourse. Some grave mistakes, u spend a lifetime repenting lor.

Not easy getting a mother to release her apron strings.

Eh, Powder, me from poly as well leh. Had the most fun in poly. Most of the frens I still keep in contact with today are also my poly frens. Reminiscence...
 
K lor, back to cars again! I can see dec baby, latino all backing off. Ahahah... I got to return the Sunny this evening liao. Sob... Cry... Bo chia again. I'm going to kiss it goodbye later. But think most drivers will be glad. Been raining so heavily the past few days and till now, I still cannot find the friggin' demister in the Sunny! Does it even have 1?? Aren't you drivers glad I'm returning the car today?

Maybe I should start taxi-driver dreams too. Got taxis run on petrol and use auto transmission one a not? Dun make me drive manual lah. Or I can sell life insurance to customers while doubling as taxi driver. Eheheh...
 
powder.. same thinking leh... haha... I wish schools and MOE could be less ninny about their discipline nowadays... what happened to caning, "fa zhan", and masking tape over the mouths??? Hahaha... Can't imagine I support such "barbaric acts" when I was one of the most frequent recipients of such punishments :P

Laundry, as I said, if the parents brought the kid up well, I dun think the kid will go and get involved in such activities lah... If he/she does, then the hard knocks are well deserved. I won't bail out my kid if he/she gets into that kinda trouble.
 
Laundry, me from Poly, but the ostracized part of Poly in some unknown campus next to the sea... Far Far Away... Nong Nong Ago... for me best time was in Sec School... Poly-wise ok oneeee lah, it was sort of like Beverly Hills 90210 with pple wearing Armani Jeans and JPG Sunglasses... i keep in contact with Primary/Secondary/Poleeee and also Armeee... hmm, reminds me, maybe i shuld look for them on Flenster...

talking about hard knocks, i find younger generation of men abit weaker... more like boys. very metrosexual and cool, but crack a little too easily. nowadays armee also no corporal punishments, pushups only do during PT, 5day work week... how to fight with our time? the instructors throw the rice on the field and u pick rice off the grass to eat cos u're so hungry... nobody complains, it's just the way things are... Now u will kena letters written by parents to comprain! kekekeke
