cool!! i didn't manage to find the details for master long.. so i went with David Tong.. he is super packed, but was nice enough to help me to see. i paid 138 for the consultation, and when i couldn't find dates, he provided new dates for me in a week. .i wish i wasn't soo pantang then don't have to see all these :P

hahaha icic, great for u! :) i'm not pantang actually, it's more for my in-laws.. otherwise, could have saved that 100+.. lol. but it's interesting to hear about other things calculated la - like whether we will have tao hua luck in the next 50 years of our lives.. etc etc.

Fairy's inc! They have really pretty rings. Or ling jewellery.

A few months before AD would be good. Think the shops need at least 1-2 months make the rings.

Actually I didn't really try any other bridal shop. Apart from rico, I only went to the gown warehouse and bridal affairs which are more budget options. And I took Rico's AD package without photoshoot so quite ex. If u need it, maybe u can pm me your email add.

Some shops have certain styles also so it depends on what you like. Like I think cangai's gowns are the more princessy Taiwan style type which is not my cup of tea.

Rico ones are more timeless and elegant.

Feline seems to have some flamboyant gowns.

I bought mine from jannpaul :) my engagement ring was from jannpaul too.
Very good service and reasonable price! Jann paul takes 3 months

I also don't know what to do for my wedding dresses. I have a couple of dresses that I saved on my pinterest that I really like. I'm thinking either I tailor make them or do you think i can go to the bridal shops and shown them the designs to see if they have something similar?

Can I also just walk down the tanjong pagar stretch on a weekend and talk to the shops? I read some reviews, some shops only allow you to try their gowns after you sign with them? Is it possible I walk into the shops to try the gowns first before deciding on anything?

Then again, I'm not very thin so some gowns like the very slim cut sleeveless type are not suitable (did see some girls try on those and they r really gorgeous), nor do I like princessy ball gowns.

That said, Im quite happy with my chosen gowns and did find a few I really liked. My chosen ones are really simple though so I feel it's abit wasted (gown rental places prob have the same design). But most importantly I think they are very flattering and make me look two sizes smaller haha!

Rico does have quite a wide range of diff types of white gowns, so best to go down to see and try esp if you already have some design in mind.

I found the evening gown range not great because I didn't want colours like yellow purple pink etc. which restricted my choices. initially wanted a red gown but didn't find one that I like (and could fit).

I'm a 2015 bride crashing this thread because when I read your post I wondered if I wrote it without knowing! I had the exact same experience at Rico's sister brand Digio.

I tried about 5 white gowns of different cuts before signing and they were all great, but for PS and AD I ended up with mostly ball gowns because the they had a really limited selection for the other cuts in my size, especially for coloured gowns. I really wanted a sexier sort of evening gown, maybe sheer back or fitted all the way, which they in fact have plenty of in sizes S and M. I'm an L, not even exceptionally big. I felt like I tried almost every white and coloured gown in the 8 hours I was there, and what I chose for AD in the end were gowns brought in after our dinner break, which I suspect were from Rico.

Well, they ended up to be very unadventurous choices compared to what I initially desired but at least I look good in them. Will hafta compromise if you don't wanna pay for MTM.

i guess like ping jing? guo da li stuff? i guess there's really no checklist, it depends on what the parents want to arrange..

i'm doing my solemnisation this year. and banquet next year.
logically, 提亲 should be before solemnisation right?..

Yes please try some gowns before you decide to sign with them.. To be honest, I did a few research on BS before I signed on mine. There was one BS, which was totally absurd. Met them at the road show and all they kept telling me was about the price price price and how their package and dresses is great great great. I got fed up and just walked off. I think a few things to note;

1) walk into the stores and see how the sales people approach
2) ask to try gowns, or at the very very least- see what selection is there 3) if you like then talk about package. Very important to confirm what dress selection is included in your package. My friend's colleague had to sign another package cause the package she signed had very very limited gowns. Best part- when signing they said all gown. Tried to go to case but failed cause there was no evidence. So - if ya BS said that all range included, best to have it in writing :)
4) check on price for MTM price
5) nego for more perks- more photos. Jie Mei clothes, parents/in law suits etc etc

thanks for the tips, this really helps :) agree esp that looking at the actual gowns to know the general style / feel is impt. and everything must be in black & white.

David tong is a younger master and if i rmb correctly he gives 3 sets of dates.

Long shi fu is a old man and gives 3 years worth of dates for $120 nett which can also be use for an chuang and guo da li.
I was also considering between two of them and decided to go ahead with long shifu as i feel more comfortable seeking advice from an older person and since i'll be getting more dates from him. More worth it! Haha.

Longshifu office is at his own house at woodlands. His house is huge.

I'm new here and I'm also a 2016 bride!

I went to Long Shifu's house for the wedding dates. He's quite fatherly and best thing is he will provide 3 years auspicious dates for you and your fiance! I think it is good as you can give yourself more time to plan your wedding.

JannPaul is side by side with House of Hung. JannPaul actually specialises in the engagement rings, while House of Hung (the father's shop) specialises in all other jewelry. they are at far east shopping centre, beside wheelock, first floor you wont miss it :)

i bought my rings from Jann Paul (aka house of hung) and $2.7 for a pair.. for my ring is just a half round eternity, then for my fiance's is a white and rose gold mix.. how expensive the ring is depends on the weight actually.. in terms of colours, i think it is really up to you, whether rose gold, white gold or yellow gold :)

for design, me and my fiance just chose whatever we like.. we feel that at the end of of the day, we are the ones wearing the ring.. so buy something we both like.. rather than having a pair but not our number 1 option.. so me and him.. our rings not match :)

i dont think david tong has a shop too.. i met him at starbucks during our consultation.how i decided was..who was available earlier :P

New may not be better. I feel it's more important to go for timeless because we will be wearing them for very long. Since you have time, perhaps just research for inspiration first?

Personally feel rose gold is not nice for guy, cos it's pinkish gold. My bf initially wanted rose gold but just didn't seem nice on a guy.

Not necc to get the same design, ya just get what you like, and maybe include one same detail to link it together. Ours are both rose gold on the sides only but design wise completely diff.

Fairys inc is a little on the pricier side. My own ring is already 2.2k. Bfs one maybe 1.5k, can't really rem. but nice! But yes, price depends on what u r looking for eg number of diamonds, thickness.

Maybe u can also try venus tears. They have super a lot of choices.

Hello! Yes wow so similar experience!! Totally feel you on on the last para. Haha. But I must say the gowns I chose in the end are really really flattering. Just totally different from my Pinterest board.

Actually I usually wear an M size just that my hips r bigger. I did manage to try quite a few just that some of the trumpet gowns were too small. I realise a lot of girls r small though, like uk6. Judging from the gowns ppl are selling.

Btw who was your makeup artist? Any feedback? I wear very minimal makeup usually so I want something really natural for AD. Otherwise it will be so strange!

Hmm I don't think the two brands share the MUAs, so I can't recommend. But I'm not getting the studio's to do my AD because I can't afford any delay since mine is lunch. She was taking too long for comfort for my PS. I'm paying extra to get an external one.

He based it on bazi. He will ask for your zodiac signs and give you dates based on the range you want. I had 8 dates from him as the time frame I gave him was the whole hear of 2016.. and he will rank which of the dates are 1,2 or 3 and which dates clashes with what animals. But the dates given will definitely not clash with you and your fiance, your parents and fiance parents.

He is very friendly and will also provide you an chuan and guo da Li dates nearer the date once you confirm which date you want..

Thank you for the advice! I calculated my dates with another master but he didn't ask me about our parents' zodiac and say it's not necessary. Hmm, maybe I'll check with him again!

Oh mines going to be lunch too! But dun really want to spend more money ha. I did get an external MUA for my photoshoot, so I was thinking if I like it, just show the studios one a pic and ask her to replicate.
 
Thanks for the information. So far, i have only booked for bridal package in JB as my frds said JB is much cheaper.
Any ideas for photoshoot location in JB?
My bridal package says they do not include AD make up which means i need to resource for that.
Usually how long before do we need to take our shoot before the actual day wedding? When are you guys going to take the shoots?
Do you buy own props to go with it?
 
For the wedding band perhaps i should wait till next year before the actual day but then again will they increase the price?
LV and Chanel increased prices yearly, how about wedding bands? keke

I got mine from qoo10. MUA used 1 vial for myself and 1 for my HTB. She never comment on the quality.. so i guess should be ok.. haaa... and it's super cheap. But do try any ampoules u buy before u use it for PS or AD in case u r sensitive or allergic.

It increasing according to the gold price .. If gold price increase their prices also increases
