(2016) 2016 brides

@LPLx I'm doing the exact same thing as you! Nov 2016 BTB :)

I think my schedule should be something like this:
- 4am make-up
- 6am gate crash (htb is Teochew)
- 7am tea ceremony @ bride's house
- 8am tea ceremony @ groom's house
- 10am proceed to hotel, preparation for solemnization
- 11.30 am solemnization
- 1 pm lunch commences
- End of lunch around 3-4 pm

Any comments / suggestions from other BTBs? Is it a must to have tea ceremony at groom's place before bride's place?

@tulipkiss one of my friends who just got married last year says she can get consignment wines somewhere in toa payoh...

wanna pm me the wine consignment contact? :) I'm pretty open to recommendations still, gonna shortlist a few to visit when it's nearer to date!

heyya! may i know why is your gate crash so early? is it because of auspicious timing or because of time buffer?

Congrats! Next up looking for bridal studio? Or u prefer everything a la carte :)

haha thks.. feels more of relief than excitement.
shld be bridal studio. means gowns, suits, MUA, car decor, hand bouquet all in a package?
wanted to visit a BS over the weekend but didn't have time..

Hi all... HTB proposed last month and we're planning for our wedding next year but not sure when yet exactly because still stressing out over what kind of wedding to have!

HTB and I are Christians, but we're concerned about some relatives not wanting to come to a church and we want to avoid cost of having two events (e.g. Church wedding reception and dinner). Anyone managed to pull off one event that guests were happy with?

Curious if anyone has had the experience of getting a pastor to officiate/ do wedding blessings for wedding outside of church venue...

Pastors are more than willing to officiate ur wedding outside a church venue. You'd need to first check if your pastor is a licensed JP to be able to officiate your wedding.
I'm having a christian wedding at my banquet venue, not at a church, due to logistical reasons. PM me if u wanna know more. :)

Oh I see! That will be another journey to look for the right BS.. Haha any BS you have in mind?

I believe that you would need to get a date first. This is because if you get the venue be for getting the date.. The venue might not be available on the day you want and may have to keep changing dates.

You may also want to consider the number of ppl you want to invite because the venue might or might not be able to cater to you.

If you want to book for next year.. you better start soon because next year's dates are running out very quickly if you happen to want an auspicious date. :)

Thanks so much for your help ladies! Yea we have to do church first so we are now checking if the church has the date we want - looking at 3 Sep. If church ok then all systems go, ie. we find a dinner venue that still has our date and can fit our requirements (about 20 tables). We are definitely hoping for a hotel with good food - if anyone can recommend?

Also looking to tailor my dress - recommendations anyone? :D but my plan is to go to one or two bridal studios to try their gowns just to know the cuts I like first.. is this possible?

Thanks once again ladies :)

hi girl, congrats! :)

If youre more particular about food standards at your wedding, do go for hotels with their in house restaurants. 20 tables shouldnt be a problem, just that you'll be using their smaller ballroms instead. You can try Park Royal on Beach Road (Si Chuan Dou Hua), Holiday Inn Atrium (Xin Cuisine), Orchard Hotel (Hua Ting). have to google for others, here are some that i can rmbr offhand. :) I think other than the food, it's better to go down for site viewing, see if you fancy the balloom and whether it fits your budget!

Email the hotels respectively to start making appointments. :)

not at the moment, probably gonna visit the usual few.. amanda lee, white link, digio, yvonne creative, etc..
any recommendations? :)
Most BS are all located along tanjong pagar. You can plan 1 day to go pop by the different BS to check out the packages and even try out the gowns. :)

Heard pretty good reviews about Yvonne Creative & Digio. Perhaps can try Rico, Thomson Wedding Collection, The Aisle Bridal & if your budget allows, you can try Z weddings. Just to name afew, but there are really alottttt. Just got to find one that suits your preference and style.

Rmbr, BS isnt all about the gowns. you have to consider the photography style as well. Thats what i feel at least! :)

yeah most BS have their in house photographers.. That's why if you want famous photographers like Multifolds that you will only be renting gowns from the BS and get your own photog - (pre wedding and AD)..

icic, will browse through the BS photos at the same time we are there to look at gowns.. otherwise will go "ala carte". currently friends have recommended Raymond Phang, Chris Woon (More to Purple) and Bosco (Hearted Moments)..

I will be renting gown from a bridal studio and having my own photographer since we source our photographers first :)

care to share which photographer u've engaged? :)

Hi i will be going with Back Alley creations :) Will be engaging him for overseas pre wedding shoot, and AD photog + video (half day each) :)

I think he also has a tie up with Amanda Lee gowns though I already chose the bridal studio before the partnership.

Hi I didn't engage their tie up with Amanda Lee, I signed up with another bridal studio (Bliss Bridal) because there wasn't that tie up initially. Haha, he seems like a nice guy, he shot 2 of my colleagues' AD :)

how much did everyone spend on the bridal package? I just signed up over the weekend at 3588 is it reasonable? everything included except AD photographer ..

Heyy then when are you planning to do your tea ceremony? We are still trying to figure out if should do after church at guy's and girl's house or do at the hotel itself before the dinner..

-30" frame with picture

I will be signing mine with SampleStudio from JB... Have yet to nego on the packages with him ;)

Hello Chassy,

Sample Studio? Let me know your package once you have signed.

M looking at KSL bridal / City Square / Sutera Mall but have yet to go in and check the rates.

I guess the rates are around RM 5000 - RM 10000? I heard a friend signing up with ENYA. It is good but very expensive.

@kemise because husband to be is teochew and teochews need to fetch the bride before the sun rises.. So gate crash has to be before sunrise too.. He is more traditional, wants to fetch me to his house for tea ceremony first before coming back to my house for tea ceremony. We wanted to split the tea ceremony to be home and hotel but realized got no time! We can only choose home or hotel, so in the end following customs, we will do the traditional way..

oh oh i see.. haha i think my wedding v no govt since we're not v particularly traditional :P

Actually I did think of hiring another photographer externally for my Pre-wed shoot with BS but then I think of coz BS won't be allowing that as they want us to only buy photos from them right?

I am going for my appointment with BQueens tmr after considering going ala carte. I kept asking myself do I really need the soft copies since they will most prolly be chucked in my hard disk in future. But I asked many friends and all of them said that getting the soft copies back is essential (although they duno what use there is thereafter).

It's so much headache trying to shortlist the photographers and videographers! I never knew wedding prep can be this mind boggling! Anyway, I put my email up for unique-colours to send me their packages but instead of receiving theirs, I got some quotations from other photographers who chanced upon the thread. And their charges are really attractive! A bit skeptical in some sense.. What's your take?

Hello all BTB 2016,

Hello. ... I signed up with letizia bridal and have Completed my photoshoot. My pics are all taken at jb. Me and htb loved all our pictures.

@effie05 i dont think they will allow external photographers there during the shoot. What i actually meant was another photoshoot session with another photographer. both are separate sessions.

You can consider Secret Bridal for ala carte as well. Heard quite good reviews about them :)

Haha! Yes, i received many emails from the photographers/videographers as well. Just do your homework and research :) Google for their works and see if there are any reviews on them anywhere. If you're okay with their works, you can arrange a simple meet up session with them to further discuss.

I think its important to feel comfortable with videographer/photographer cos they will be the one who capture the moments. so make sure they align with your needs and wants. :)

Thanks for the recommendation @caren_c! Have been looking high and low for reliable and affordable gown rental and have only found BQueens. Will surely look your suggestion up!

And I must really agree with u that we have to be comfortable with the photographers or videographers.

How's your prep so far? Have you booked all ur necessary? :)

hope you'll find your ideal gown too! :)

Are you looking for AD videographers?

I've only booked my wedding banquet venue, and bridal studio. got a soft booking with my solemniser - have to confirm with him at a later date. my AD will be in may 2016, so i guess there's still time for me to drag my feet hehe. planning to have an external photoshoot session on top of the one with my bridal studio. (: it'll be more of a casual couple shoot instead of a pre wed shoot, since i dwant to waste money on gowns/suits just for that photoshoot session. still deciding if i should engage a MUA or just do my own makeup.

How about yourself? Whens your AD btw? Sorry if it was mentioned earlier!

Hello pam_resh,

How much is ur bridal package in JB? Where is letizia brida located?

Which location did u choose in JB?

Can share ur pictures? Hehe Thanks :)

@caren_c my AD is 19 Nov 2016 :) think I'm a kiasu bride to prepare so early. Just wondering, is $10k too high a budget for a wedding excluding banquet? Considering AD photography, AD videography, pre-wed photography, gown and suit rentals, make up for AD and pre-wed.

Tried to scale it down but seems impossible.. Doing ala carte by the way.

Hi Effie!

My wedding is 12 Nov 2016, one week before you! And I've only booked venue and did nothing else. You're really fast!

I think 10k is quite reasonable. Im doing the ala carte way and I estimated $15k for everything excluding banquet. But then again it depends on which vendor you choose for each items. Cos different vendors have different price range.
