Hi babes,

Can i just check with you girls, the red umbrella used for chinese wedding, are they for certain dialects or for all chinese? I didn't hear my parents mention about it so not sure if i need to get the red umbrella not.

And do you all go ahead with the guo da li and an chuang too?

My mom was telling me only cantonese uses the red umbrella. But because, i'm leaving house early, it will be better to have it too. I'm confused as well.

and yes, I'll still be going through both GDL and AC.

btw, are you a resident of waterway ridges too?

Im a Hokkien, and my dad say we dont need it..but my mum say she wanna get it..say in the pics nicer..haha
Those staffs at the wedding shops should be able to provide better advise..
I went to the one at City Plaza..the owner is very helpful and gave lotsa advise even though we havent bought anything from them yet.
 
I wanted to do away with the red umbrella too. But my mum says its better to have it cos it's like shielding u away from bad luck or bad stuffs befalling on u
 
I'm a hokkien too but my FH is a teochew.
So I have to be married off early.

So like what Priscilla mentioned, my mom is saying the Sun is not fully out so having the red umbrella will ward off al the bad 'stuff' around...

hey Angel37, following the checklist the hotel gave us...

Wedding Checklist
3 months prior
Finalise details of the guests list – sent out the invites via sms/email/fb..got 80% confirmation..should be sending out invitation cards after cny…best is give during cny when everyone gather together
Confirm your booking and travel arrangements for your honeymoon – this I think is the least of my problem..just going for a short trip after the wedding
Decide on the text of Wedding cards and get them printed 2 months before wedding date – Wedding cards collected
Make reservation for food tasting – doing that at end Feb, not yet booked though
Select the songs for the Bridal march in – still in progress


1 month prior
Reconfirm your booking for hair-stylist, MUA, florist, PG and wedding car – MUA confirmed for both mums and myself..not using florist, PG/VG settled (childhood pics given for making of montage)..wedding car will be using friend’s
Check on any special dietary from guests (Muslim or Vege) – in progess as frens confirm the attendance
Attend to final alteration to wedding gown n suit – booked the final fitting date
Send out invitation cards and call your guests to confirm attendance – to be done later..
Confirm songs for bridal march in – to be done later..
To ensure the discs are in CD format – to be done later..

other misc
xiong di/jie mei outfit - settled
GDL stuffs - going to buy this coming Monday with both mothers

i think the biggest headache now would be the guest list..hope to get it done asap and work on the seating arrangements

anything to be done and missed out all BTB?
 
Just had my photoshoot ytd! I was 2 hrs late for the shoot because of the super massive jam on the expressway! lucky my BS people are really nice! my make up artist and photographer waited for us patiently. Think the make up artist and photographer managed to make the whole thing very fun and relax so we really enjoyed it.


I've not planned the guest list yet either! Have just settled bridesmaid dresses. Still have yet to decide on the red umbrella. and still wondering if I've left anything out.
 
I think most important thing now is to confirm the guest list, I'm headached on the table arrangement.

Still not yet confirm the outfit for brothers and sisters, any recommendation?

Thanks xin! Seems like I'm pretty much on track at the moment. I just had my food tasting yest and collected my invites over the wkend. But the guest list is a major headache now. I totally duno how to get started..

When do you think its the time to gather the jie meis? I was tinking.. end Feb or early Mar. Too early or too late?

I got the jie meis' dresses in BKK platinum mall. Super duper cheap especially when you buy same design in quantities..

For the guestlist, maybe you want to catergorise them into groups e.g. relatives, friends, colleagues? How many of them in total before you assign the tables?

i agree with lemonzil, categorize them.
Relatives can pass to your parents to settle
I group mines as sec frens/poly frens/outside frens/colleagues..then got 6 pple grp, combine with 4 pple grp..something like that...
mines only 25tables..mini headache..i think those with 40 over tables one is power..

For the xiong di, my bf wanted to get them vests...we buy from taobao.com, cheap (ard 16-18bucks) and good..
we went to searc for vests in spore, limited designs n super ex, 40plus for one?

my bf attended his buddy's wedding, code was suit..that is basically the xiong di gotta have his own or make his own...too ex for the groom to sponsor

Just one more question.. do you purposely form groups of 10 (like exclude some partners n some random not too close pple) or u just invite everyone and hope they will form into groups of 10?

For me, i form group of 10, say add 5 with 5 or 3 with 7 if possible
Then i have a table of ex-colleague with 9 pple..this one i leave it as they are..quite difficult to find 1 person to slot it..also awkward to spilt them up
 
Ermm.. but if someone from that group of 5 cannot make it, then will have 1 odd seat left. Then if invite back from the same group of frewns also weird rite.. coz they are not in our first invite list..

Okie.. am i thinking too much. :/

No, i didnt.. i jus look at my guests and try to fit them it wherever possible. of course, i try not to invite individuals.

mostly have at least 1 person they know of which also makes them more comfortable?

Ya i also thinking how to do the itinerary. How do you girls start?

usually wads the interval before you change from one gown to another?
 
I'm having my solemnization in the afternoon, 1pm and we're looking at the groom to gatecrash at 7am.
So i work between these hours forward and backward... quite a lot of give and take for the time constraint here.

Personally, i think it'll be good to set the start and end time first? List down the processes before setting the timeframe for each item?

Pple I invited.. asked if the pple i didnt intend to invite if they are going to the wedding. So I ended up having to tell them.. I dun have enuff stamps and now i'm preparing to send out the 2nd batch to invite the pple i didnt intend to invite. My table arrangement has gone hay-wired.

N to make things worst.. alot of pple have alot of pending pending can come cannot come. Feeling rather stress..
 
Angel, perhaps you want to get your guests to confirm their attendance again?
Let them know that you need to do table arrangement and it's goin to be very difficult for you if they can't confirm?

Try to relax, and take it easy... i know it's hard but try ya?

Hi angel, maybe u can try asking them over tele or in person if they are definitely attending? For relatives, suggest your parents help u ask them to confirm attendance?

My guest list is 99% confirmed..now waiting for hotel to give my the table arrangements.

For me, I asked all my colleagues in person if they are definitely coming and for relatives', I got my parents and aunt to settle it for me. I only invited very close friends
 
Hi Angel, totally understand how you feel..for those who are the pending can come or cannot come one, I list them as not coming..if they got come, then I see where I can slot them.

Close friends should confirm more or less with you.
Relatives, let you parents handle..remember ask if they will be bringing whole family and maids
Colleagues the easiest..you see them everyday..can get confirmation easily

Then must be mentally prepared sure will people fly you aeroplane last min..so dont get yourself too stressed over it..

Dont overinvite too many people, especially if you have table constraints

Im doing up the actual day schedule..so girls, how should the sequence be like?
before 1st march in, the childhood montage...then march in and cut cake..then 2nd dish go back up to change..then before 2nd march in is the morning highlight then march in, pop champagne and yum sheng?

what time should the videographer be ard?

what time should the videographer be ard probably also depends on what time is your groom coming to fetch you.
usually it's 1.5 - 2 hours before? Depends on what you want to have in your video too. Your make-up session, your gate crashing part etc.

i do the table arrangement/seating can vomit blood, even quarrel with HTB over it
he invited his ex-colleagues..then 1 came back say coming with family of 5, and then add on he wun bao alot..
kinda pissed me off..normally colleague/sch mates can cater for 1 more extra pax if bring partner..but seriously 5..if is relatives or close buddy is understandable..aldy catered for that number..
i dunno his intention when he say he wun bao alot..i rather he not say anything, i still wun get so pek chek

hilly, my HTB say is becoz no one taking care of the kids..now making me feel guilty...at least i have my married gfs tell me otherwise, not say got half tables waiting for them to fill :/
 
xaiba ur HTB's x colleague is really bu zi dong leh. your htb no hint him on the seating arrangement like no enough seats etc?

Hi @winnielsy just wondering if you have any reviews on Mr Alex Tan?

Many other popular solemnisers are not available. :( My fiance and I approached him and he is the only one who came back with a 'non negative' reply! He said he will do a soft booking first as it's still too early (our solemnisation will only be in May 2016). and told us to confirm again in Nov 2015.

Worried that if by then i approach him and he decides to let go of our appointment, we will have to do a last min rush for our JP hunt.
