(2011) 2011 Brides

I guess we will only wear the gowns for the PS.. we have selected a few places in the city for PS already & the rest will just be purely our holiday.. too tiring to wear the gown all over the place..

Still going on gown hunting.. haa

u are fast clint! So efficient to have even selected the places u want to take in e city for PS. I've to start my long research on selected places soon too cos lots of planning is needed...

I'll be going to Mandarin Oriental & Holiday Inn atrium's wedding showcase this sun =)

Oh, coz we have been there before during our student days & during that time we were there, we knew what we wanted already.

Anyone went to Mandarin Oriental yesteday? Care to share your thoughts? Didn't manage to go to MO, only went for the Holiday Inn Atrium wedding show and my appointment with Jawn.

i went yest... they have a new theme "sweetheart" but i still prefer e theme "dream" or "love" sweet heart theme is based on pink n black... e bridal suite is big though!!

Kass, MO is great!!! Honestly, i liek that place alot but the price is a little off budget.. The solemnization room had a beathtaking view and the bridal suite was awesome! Total privacy for the couple!!

You are able to book the whole poolside restaurant and the hotel will clear the pool for that few hours you are having your solemnization. So its like you and your guests own that whole pool area!!

As for the ballroom, i like the room beside the ballroom for changing during your dinner. Its really convenient to the bride as we do not have to travel all the way to the suite and return back. Ballroom is pillarless and curved ( its a fan shape) so it really depends on the individual if you want a straight ballroom or you can accept the fan shaped ballroom at MO. My fiance don't like it being curve. The stage design is a little dull as compared to other hotels I had seen.

The food is fantastic! Gotta say the chef at MO is really attentive to the guests and their dishes are really great!

I went to both MM and MO yesterday. I love the solemnization room at MO as well. The view is awesome! The best thing is that it's complimentary ;) But unfortunately, we're not able to meet the minimum number of tables required. They were willing to let us book for 2011 at the price yesterday though
sad.gif

MM will probably be a better choice for us because we are able to meet the min number of tables required and both of us were pretty impressed with the service provided. However, booking for 2011 has not opened.

And oh, I also managed to book my BS over the weekend ;)

I love the sweetheart theme at MO and the super nice ballrooms but we can't meet the minimum requirement too.. The bridal suite is big but I'm surprised that HIA bridal suite is much bigger and it's nice too!

I was stuck at La Belle's sales talk for soooo long b4 i managed to leave.. I kept telling them i wanna try & see if there's a gown I like b4 signing but they just hope we will pay a deposit on the spot to enjoy e weddin show perks lo.. but end up ok la, they relented when I stood firm on my decision.

purplebottle, MO willing to let you book for 2011? the guy who attended to me and my fiance yesterday doesn't seemed to be very interested in serving us.. i was a bit pissed though by his attitude.. I asked him about booking for 2011 and he said its not open yet.

I can't booked the solemnization at MO because i had booked mine at Halia. Solemnizing next year.

cow cow, i agree.. I'm also not very impressed with their service.. no one attended to us and they were chatting away, my friend had to interupt their chats to ask for their menu & pricing.. but their ballroom is one of my favourite =)

I went to MO wedding show yest too and managed to book my wedding luncheon in Feb 2011. Hmm, my fiance and I found their service excellent. In fact I was attending a wedding dinner there on Sat night and was impressed by their banquet executive.

The Sweetheart theme was really lovely for girls who like the princessey, pink and fluffy hearts, I stick to the Happinese theme which is very oriental

Very huge and pillarless ballroom too! Nice!

cow cow: ya i oso agreed with their service.. must be i was wearing shorts tat's y they didnt attended to us.. hahahhaa..

draaaloon, could that be the reason why we were poorly served? I was wearing shorts but did wear proper shoes and top.. my fiance was in berms and polo tee.. BUAHAHAHA

draaaloon & cow cow, what time were u guys at MO? I was in short demin and I went up with 2 couples to see the bridal suite, then both also in shorts.. hehe..

hahahaha
i was there at abt 1+ i tink (cant really rem) but i was actually with one of the staff member then after hub n I went into e lift, she asked her colleague to bring us to the bridal suite.... my hub was in jeans

Lucky u ladies! Yesterday FH was not feeling well, so we didn't manage to cover all the places we want to, including MO and MM. We only went to Jawn, as we have made an appt there and HI Atrium, which we didn't like.

Purplebottle >> Which month are u looking at for 2011? What was the price offered yesterday? And the perks?

La Belle seems to be at every wedding show I've been to... *Yawn*.

have u all been to m hotel? i still love e place.. but e max tables onli 32.. quite difficult for us.. hopefully my dad has no intention to invite so many of his friends.. whahahhaa

M Hotel Banquet Suite is nice! Love the high ceiling. And I like the contemporary feel to it... But mummy is concerned about the quality of the food as there is no Chinese restaurant there.

Kass: we haven't actually confirmed the AD yet but we're looking at mid-year. How about you?

If I don't remember wrongly, MO is 1188++ for weekends.

Kass: did u went to the last wedding show held in M hotel? they served banquet food and it's nice.. but of coz we dunnoe wat will it be like when it's cooking for 320 pple.. but my frenz who went M hotel for wedding dinner b4 commented the food is nice....

purplebottle, looking at mid year as well. Maybe May or July. Not yet confirmed. Right now trying to keep to budget of 1000++ for weekends.

Not sure whether can find hotels we like at this budget or not.

hi kass, i like M Hotel too, been there for an event before. There was hotel catering and the food's alright.
haha, we are the shorts gang...

Hi, i heard from my fiance that M hotel is not pillarless..

Currently my fiance and I had streamlined STS (or Fairmont), GWP, MM and Fullerton.. We are looking at Friday.. so should be within budget..

Banquet suite has 2 pillars.. but if we onli hav 30 tables.. we can take away the tables near the pillars so nobody will be block... plus e layout is more to square-rectanglar so everyone can see

Yup, M hote;'s layout is good, everyone is not too far from the stage.

My htb hopes that we don't spend too much on e banquet cos we can't have the best of everything so I feel that my options are sooo constraint.. sigh..

Hi kass

You might wish to consider Stamford.. Their weedend package after GST is only abt $1059 if it is still the same price.. I have booked GCW for 2011 Sat at $1068.. Their Sunday package is $888 (but of course of a different menu).

Reviews for Hilton isnt so good.. Would you like to consider York Hotel? I personally like it except that it cannot accomadate my 40 tables..

It's ok, you still have time to look
happy.gif

I'm back to looking at WG and surfing for designs since not many hotels are opened for booking for 2011, hahaha!

same here purplebottle!
searching for WG now for my June PS.. hotel/restaurant hunt will leave it to next year when booking is out
happy.gif

Wanna ask u guys a question... those who already have a joint account with their FHs, which banks did you choose? I am thinking between StanChart e$aver and Maybank isavvy cuz the interest rates quite good, but wondering if there are others we should consider!

Purplebottle... Since we are both on bridal shopping and looks like our budget quite similar based on the BS we like, just wanna tell u that you might want to consider Jawn as well. I went to them on Sunday and the designer, Euzart, is wonderful! I also felt like friends immediately with him and the good thing is that he seems very versatile, which I like, because I know I can be very indecisive. Very comfortable with him, though the first gown he chose for me to try was not the correct size. The gowns go from simple to elaborate, so not just one style.
happy.gif

I'm gonna make an appt with Emanuel B. and try on some of her gowns and then maybe go visit Dang as well before making my decision.

Hi kass, i'm having my joint account with Citibank step up interest account, it used to be quite good but now the maximum interest has fallen by a lot .. but u may just wanna compare. =)

clint: Are you having a MTM WG? My PS will be in Dec but I'm already surfing for ideas, LOL! Oh, my colleague brought some wedding mags and I'm borrowing to get some ideas as well ;P

Kass: I've already booked my BS over the weekend ;) But thanks for sharing with me!

As for joint account, ours is POSB MySavings but the interest rate has dropped drastically from the time we signed up.

May I know the current interest rate for StanChart e$aver and Maybank isavvy?

Ooh, purplebottle, congrats! Who did u sign up with? Silouette? Cuz I thought u have the best comments for them.
happy.gif

Are you also doing an overseas PS as well?

hi gals, i jus confirmed my venue with Raffles Town Club.

They have a splendid pillar-less ballroom and bridal suite is gorgeous.

might wanna check it out! =)

purplebottle: I bought a WG from a seller in this forum. It's a MTM WG from Silouette.. the ex-owner is around my size, all i need is to bring back to Silouette to alter the length.. $$$ saved.. hee

any BTBs know of versatile BS? I only need WG & EG from them w/o the other stuff.. most of the BS I go are those one-stop kind.. whenever I mentioned that I only need the gowns, they immediately change their attitude..

Kass: I signed up with TWP instead because they had a promotion on the day I went down so I decided to take up the offer ;)
I'm not doing an overseas PS but I'm still doing it half a year earlier because I can't take leave to do it before my AD in 2011.

Clint: Wow, that's amazing! Congrats! Hope to see your WG when it's done. I'm sure it's fabulous!

hi ladies, those who went for M Hotel's wedding show? I went to M Hotel to have a look at the banquet suite... apparently looks quite filled up with only 21 tables.. if fit bout 30tables, no space for march in... any comments? M Hotel's really beautiful...

Hi joyle, i went to M hotel's wedding show.. when we went there, the banquet suite's setup was with 32 tables.. and i find it okay.. there's space for march in... if hub n i can limit to onli 30 tables, we will most likely be having our wedding there
