I admire those who have queued for Simei DBSS. I tried for Toa Payoh DBSS, but in the end gave up, cuz we decided it was too ex!

Have u guys booked BS and Banquet venue yet?

We were told by e developer that it shld b ready 1 yr earlier...cos that's what happen to their DBSS development in tm,it was TOP 1 yr earlier.. so we'll just see what happens bah..

Been a little quiet here!

I've been bridal studio shopping over the weekend. Went to Sattine, Emanuel B., La Vie, Divine Couture and My Bridal Room.

Currently, I'm loving Emanuel B and Divine Couture. But still have a few more which I shortlisted and hope to visit...

I personally wouldn't have thought of Emanuel B, but I remembered them because they did my sister's wedding back in 2001 and the designer Elaine was great and she's very friendly in letting us know her style, how she works etc etc. FH and I felt really comfortable with her.

Divine gowns are really pretty. A lot of low back gowns. Jessica, the designer whom I spoke to was really nice in explaining all her inspirations, what they specialise in etc.

La Vie - also a lot of low back gowns! Very pretty. I think I really wowed my FH when I walked out with the gown!

But was really put off by the photographer who basically badmouthed all his competitors.

Sattine - the gowns were also what attracted me to them in the first place. But the conditions of the gowns were not that great, and if I am gg to MTM, I rather go for the alacarte designers.

Finally, MBR. I used to work at Beach Road, so I always walked past them whenever I go for lunch. Thought their gowns were quite pretty. But that was just initial thoughts. Not too impressed with their current collections.

Going to visit Jawn this weekend and perhaps some other bridal shops! Hope I can make a decision by this weekend!
 
Kass: BS shopping is fun! I tried on some gowns as well and love them. How's the package like for Emanuel B and Divine Couture?

Btw, are any of you not getting an auspicious date for ROM/AD but just picking a date you like?

purplebottle: My mum hopes that I can pick an auspicious date so we'll do so to please her. I hope to confirm my date this weekend, will be dropping by Fu Lu Shou with my best fren and her fiance to count the date tgt =)

You cannot check for 2011 if you are going to count using Tong Shu method, but if you counting via Ba Zi method, can calculate for 2011 or even 2012 already.

We're going to consult Master David Tong soon for the date.

Divine's package (Gowns, MTM Suit, Makeup and Flowers) is $3388 (OTR), $4388 (MTM). OTR and MTM for Divine is for WG only. EG is MTM only.

You have signed up with anyone yet?
 
pinkglove: my mum wanted to count initially but she was worried that the dates we want would be unsuitable so decided not to in the end. I hope it'll be ok!

kass: thanks! I haven't signed up yet. I've only been to Silhouette, TWP, Julia wedding and Sophia wedding. I'm thinking of visiting more before deciding. Did you sign up with any of those you visited?
 
Purplebottle - How are ur experiences with those BS that you've been to?

Waiting to visit Jawn and maybe JnC to take a look... Hopefully can make my decision soon!

Of the 4, I prefer Silhouette and TWP. I love the gowns at Silhouette. They're really lovely & elegant and the designer I spoke to is very experienced so she could give quite a lot of views. As for TWP, I wasn't blown away by the gowns I tried. They're simpler but I like them as well. I'm leaning towards TWP though because price is friendlier ;P

I didn't really like the feel at Julia wedding and Sophia wedding though because the coordinators were quite pushy. Oh, I went to My Bridal Room as well but didn't get to try on any gowns. The gowns they had were not very impressive either but the coordinator did say that they can MTM anything as long as I show them the picture.
 
Woah Kass, what a fruitful trip..

I've been to a personal boutique, Vaughn Tan Boutique, last sat.. Im quite impressed with the EG that he designed, WG is a little plain not really impressive.. package is $4888, inclusive of 1 MTM WG, EG, makeup (PS,AD,trial), flowers for cars, corsages.. he is willing to adjust based on your budget thou..

Any1 went to Amanda Lee weddings yet? their WG looks very impressive too

purplebottle: how's the package like for Silhouette & TWP? I went into Silhouette once but they were to busy to talk with me.. love their WG!
 
For Silhouette, the price seems to be quite flexible because it is dependent on the type of gown you like. I tried on 2 gowns - 1 simple, 1 more details. I was quoted 4280 for the simple gown. The one with more details is 4900. Both packages will come with MTM groom's suit, trial hair & makeup, AD hair & makeup, flowers and car deco.

For TWP, OTR package is 3599 while MTM is 4399. Packages are similar to Silhouette but included hair & makeup for photography session.
 
Kass: I think Silhouette may be out of our budget as well I'm thinking of paying for my own bridal package instead of stressing poor HTB.

It's a v std package. So if it's MU, it's 4 MU sessions, if it's flowers, it's all inclusive etc etc.

EB designs tend to be on the cleaner, simpler look, so it u like a lot of embellishments or a lot of embriodery, then EB is unlikely your choice, as that's not Elaine's design philosophy.

La Vit's package is $3899 OTR. THey dun really do MTM, unless u are a + sized bride, then they will recommend.

$3899 inc OTR WG, EG, MTM Suit (Jacket for rental, pants to keep), Makeup, Flowers, Pre-wedding Photogrphy (20 page hot press album, max 30 poses). Less $300 if u dun want photography.

That's what I can rem.

La Vie's gowns are really pretty and really well made, if u like those low back ones. In fact I think their low back gowns are nicer than Divine's.

But my FH thinks the photography is blah, and we both can't stand the photographer who basically badmouthed everyone in the industry to elevate themselves. So yeah. If it's an alacarte boutique I would really consider them. But they are not exactly cheap for OTR.
 
Kass: we have a joint account but I only contribute 20% so technically, he's paying more for the wedding.

I also came across jv gowns where they said they can replicate or MTM the gowns U wan and it's soo affordable.. I'm considering whether to engage online service but really do not know the quality.
 
no worries =) That's really a main concern also cos can't try on and discuss with the tailor.

I'm feeling a bit kan chiong suddenly cos i've to get my gown ready by next May.. Maybe I shall squeeze out some time to visit the BS starting soon!

pinkglove >> 4-5 months generally enough, but best to give urself some leeway, in case u can't decide on what you want the design to be, end up having to go down on many many meetings with the designer. Since u cannot shift ur PS in Paris, so better start earlier!

Ok, so I'll increase my gears a bit girls.. hehe.

It's good to give leeway and clint, u are fast! I initially don't intend to bring my EG for my PS, only wanted to bring 1 WG.. maybe I shld consider bringing EG along too but all these are soooo heavy..
 
the design is pretty & price is good.. so hurry up & chop first! haa..

actually we intend to courier the gowns & suits back to SG after the photoshoot.. den go on holidaying.. still thinking of other options..
 
That's a good idea but I'm a bit paranoid, what if I've reached but my gown hasnt... haha..

Do u intend to take shots yourself after the PS? We kinda thinking of that cos my HTB's into photography so we are thinking of taking shots in selected countries when we travel but the luggage is a major consideration, then again, it's might be a bit tiring to keep taking photos after the official PS .haha. I'll prob courier the gown back after 1 week..
 


purplebottle >> Still thinking about it. I want to go and see Jawn first and what they offer. If what is commented earlier in the Dang thread is true, then they really might not be that reasonable in terms of price.

Ted Collection is also something that I am v interested in, but for them it is purely gowns only, no flowers or makeup, so have to coordinate each aspect separately, which I dun really want. But they offer three dresses inc tea dress, so it's an added incentive.
