Hi all Nov BTBs, will like to share this experience I am now facing with Mandarin Orchard. My wedding is coming up in a month and just last week I went down with my friends to the ballroom to show them the ballroom and discuss with them on my decor plans for the reception.
To my utmost horrors, I realised the carpet has been changed. From a light blue hue to a horrifying array of colours that I can find no words to describe. One of my main concerns when I choose the ballroom was the carpet colour and for sure I wouldn't have take the ballroom if I knew that they are intending to revamp (which again they did not communicate to us when we signed on the dotted line)
Now.. all my decor stuff that I bought clashes with the colour of the carpet now.
But I think the worst of all is that the change has not been communicated to me by the hotel at all and I only got to know by a shocking chance. We called to speak to the director and he said he's sincere to make things work for us and to try to tone down the carpet colour. But the more I see the carpet, the more I question what can be done.
Well, have uploaded both the before and after of the carpet... Wondering what's your take if you were in my shoes? Cos I am absolutely distressed over the matter.

Gabby: Ya, don't pay for something that you don't like. I bet it's not cheap either, maybe at the same time you can start looking for other venue as a backup. Then if negotiations with the director fall through, u can just tell him that the least he can do is to return your deposit. Cause what the hotel did is considered a breach in contract?

Hey Elle, I had a look at far east, and most of them quoted $300 plus cause they'll have to pretty much unpick the whole dress. And that was the best they could do. My fiancee just called the original place we ordered the dress from and they're being (*@#&!RY!(*N! and refusing a refund. Sigh. I think it's a nice dress, but doesn't suit me.

At this time, abit late to find a backup place and I have 500 guest so not all ballroom can hold such qty. Which makes me really angry cos if I have known earlier I can make the call to look for another venue but now I'm so close its almost impossible and yes... some of my invites are out :/ I have checked through the contract, no clause saying that the hotel have the rights to make any changes to the ballroom at their discretion. So I have some room for negotiation. Have wrote to top mgmt, hope they will be able to give me a favorable reply by tomorrow!

Elle: ya lor. Sigh. cause it's double layers heavy duchess polyester whatever material. then it's closed in stitch. so what ever you want to alter have to pretty much unpick that seams. and cause the skirt is a screw up... which is half the dress... and the fact that it floats on my shoulders and NOT fit me at all, they'll have to unpick pretty much the whole dress. Bought from weddingdressexpress.com.au

Hey babe, I'm just wondering if buying a new gown will be cheaper den unpicking and sewing all tog again.. And that may in fact alter the shape and look of the dress. I was contemplating a while a ago to buy a WG.. saw some really nice ones between 300-500.. And since u deal with the middleman (who is in Singapore), it puts u at ease..
The place I checked out was www.elasdress.com.. Some of the WGs are worth considering. Budget may be a constraint, but at least get the problem out of the way and pursue the matter again when u're not so tied up in all the preps...

R.T: I've went down to see Elas dress. It looks very nice on pictures but when u try it it's not very nice. No shape. And all the designs u can find it on taobao.com for a much cheaper price and t
o your measurement cause most of the designs are corset style to just pull in real tight. So if u really want to just get a new gown can go to this place allure Charix. I got my gown from there. And got the recommendation from my ballet teacher. I'm also on a tight budget but manage to get a really pretty dress there. I chose a pong pong gown. So abit more ex. Bug if u are not looking at that then can look for others.

My wedding went rather smoothly although we almost had heart attack when husband could not find our marriage cert just mins before the solemnization! lol Am also very satisfied with my AD make up and hairstyle, much better than my pre-wedding Taiwan BS which is a cheater! Posted my comments about them on the topic of Bridal Boutique. Realised that actualy there are also many Msian brides who condemned about this BS on Malaysia forum.

Well... apart from the unhappiness before the wedding which you might see in my previous post...mainly due to the terrible way that the Sales Director handle matters.
We were very happy with the rest of the team from Mandarin Orchard. Everything went smoothly, they are attentive to our needs and our guests raved about the food that was served (which I am glad that they enjoyed every bit of it). Many of my guest told me they just had to stay on till the last dish was served!
We got alot of help from their official florist too and they worked really well with my own decor team. So the entire ballroom & reception was amazingly beautiful and it was a nice surprise for me when I went down to welcome my guest.
