Cherry i think pros & cons for staying with in-laws, lucky my MIL is nice, caring & thoughtful. She is doing all household chores, so i don't need to do much at hm haha. But of coz not as comfortable as living with own parents, so we try to stay in the room most of the time, talk less conflict will be less =)

Joy > yeah York hotel I agree not very well known , I also don't them about them till I need to attend a wedding dinner there. It a four stars hotel though .
Oriental is nice. i like Oriental the ballroom is like a fan shape.
and the lobby is cosy .

Cherry! I decided to book an appointment with Nail Haven since I will be getting my nails done before my solemnization, which is less than a month to go!
So maybe I can share some photos after that. Hehez.
Actually staying with someone, there will always bound to have a possibility of conflict since everyone is different. I guess got to give and take then. But of 'cos it's always to have your own house with just the two of you!

So far no problem for staying with in-laws, accept during my initial wedding plan stage we have different idea, my poor hubby is like a sandwich in between haha.
I think staying with in-laws are ok, if ur htb will side u more then his parents & not mama boy type. If not everything have to listen to his mum, then it will be difficult for us.

congrats Kat on ur upcoming ROM. me and HTB will do solemnization on the actual day , which is depending whether we are able to get a house early, then prob have to rom earlier

mic thank u for website! so pretty the stuffs ther! my gd fren used the fairy tale angbao box for her weddin.. its so pretty but so sad can! dunno y the table at pan pac nt steady the box fell n the carriage wheel was broken!
the box lookin pretty aside, u mus standby another box to keep emptyin the fairytale box cos its pretty small n get filled very fast! we (e recep) didnt noe the box was so small, end up the angbao was put in a paperbag! so "dangerous" can.. hehe
n pls remind ur pg on tt day to snap the beautiful angbao box! cos my fren's pg didnt n she was so sad.. haha

This thread is moving so fast!
Anyway been to Carlton Hotel last Saturday to have a look. Joanna is a nice lady and like it that she jokes too, so making the whole session less formal.
She brought us to look at the new ballroom in the new wing. The new wing is gorgeous and really love the feel there. The ballroom is pillar-less and has a high ceiling. There was a wedding on that day so there was table arrangements. A total of 30 tables were fitted in and we felt was a bit too tight even though the ballroom's minimum is 30 tables. Joanna said they put 30 was before the ballroom was done and they need to give a number. They might adjust the number 'cos she feels 30 is a bit too tight also.
Also coming June, they will be changing their theme so their current theme does not apply anymore. Even the wedding favours will also be changed.
The overall feel for Carlton Hotel is good. Only problem is we cannot be sure if we will get it. 'Cos for the smaller ballroom that is available, the ceiling is low and has pillars so we thought we might rather get from other hotels if so.
This weekend will be visiting M Hotel and Hilton Hotel before confirming our choice of hotel. Hope all will go well!

Hope so! 'Cos my HTB and I were thinking if in the end we going for Carlton and can't get the new wing's ballroom, we might as well get some other hotel 'cos the old wing's ballroom has such low ceiling and got pillars. Hehez.
You can go check it out! See if it is to your liking. But take note that it's best to fit at most 30 for the ballroom now 'cos when we see the ballroom with 30, really is quite a tight fit for tables at the side. Hopefully they will adjust the number of tables!

maybe during weekday time, you can just drop by more hotels other than M hotel & hilton hotel to check their ballrooms . Don't need make appointments with every hotel . At least u grab more time to see more hotels and use the weekend to nego the hotels that you really like.
