(2010) 2010 Brides

Jaq: haha... went visiting abt 10 photographers before deciding on my AD photographer.

for us, we look out for 3 things:
1. Photography style
2. Budget (preferably can accomodate a coffee table)
3. Comfortable with photography

randyce: korean characters ez to rem n write..but not jap..especially 2 different kinds to write..LOL..anyway we r born to have english n mandarin..tats y others cannot adapt..LOL. Koreans n Japanese complaint our chinese is the most difficult to write n speak in the world.

deerixp: moving frame has only 1 PG. think I ask for quote before. what about VG? u not having any?

we quite fancy coffee n t*a dreamworks but price also steep..sigh.
actually me anything la..just capture the moments can liao but my bf picky coz he freelance AD PG also tend to see this n that particularly n also $ comes in..hurhur

jaq> ha writing the kanji is the worst! cos certain characters they look so similar that i write the chinese version instead of the jap version.

deerixp> wah 1k for PG, that's value for $$.

actually what's the difference btw coffeetable and the one given to us by the BS? i'm confused. the more i "research" it seems the more confused i am.

angelia> thanks for helping with the rental research

randyce> i took mine at JCS.

rand: where's this ikoma? how's the charges like? interested to take up jap too...

VV: looking at resale cos not eligible for BTO anymore

ya, in japan they even employ those professional "butt pushers" to make sure u get onboard the train if it's too packed!

alicia: u feeling better now? take care wor

VV > the albums that you get back from the studio for your pre-wedding shoots, technically, they are called flush-mount albums. There main characteristic is the pages are thick and hard, but the pages open fully. They are made by gluing the photos onto cardboard, then bound, and trimmed.

Coffee table albums are usually the soft page type, like those photo books you find at borders/MPH/Times. Characteristic is its usually soft page. The printing is done onto the page itself. The pages do not open fully, its like a thick textbook.

darrel> thanks guru! sheesh aft all those lengthy explanation on various websites, yours is simple and to the point.

does anyone know where i can print magazine type publications? and how much do you think it'll cost?

thomas> HA who's the rich one? tsk tsk... thomas stop hoarding $$ and boost the economy. hiak hiak

thomas > now market quite bad, look for places with 0 cash. But do note, the agent 1% commission, and option fee, exercise the option, etc need cash.
You probably need to pay 1% + 5K at least.

thomas > i also hope can dun go thru agent ... but hard to find houses that are not under any agent.

I'm quite tempted to print flyer and stick on the block's lifts.

vv: flush mount are more expensive......... their cost price for 30 pages for a good quality one can maybe reach 700?
u can also do ur own flash mount..... darrel has some recommandation.... i went albumstory@ penisular...... but the quality is...... hmmmmm.... not fantastic..... it cost around $600 already.....
in the end i topup $1200 to my photographer to let him do..... think his quality better. then if i wanna do somemore.... then i can do myself at the cheaper quality ones....lol

mmm... I wasn't aware that albumstories prices reach around $600. Thats a very high markup.
Its even more expensive than the high end coffee-table albums I print from the US.

darrel & thomas> perhaps you can try those. in times like this, i'm sure the sellers also want to cut cost. hmm if not, can nego with the agents? newbie in this area, but in times like this, anything & everything will probably be negotiable.

darrel> haha ya those kind kacang putih man use to wrap the kacangs =P it's my friend's pet project, so i thought since we are on the topic of printing, can help her ask ard.

i dun know if there's mark up or not..... but $600 is 30 pages 12X15 with box...... but still the quality isn't there compared to the other one at bras basah complex.

VV > those are done using offset printing. You'll need quantity (like 1000) to make it worth. They have to make the electronic plates to do the printing, so print 1 piece and print 1000 piece is the same price.

you can try this place, but I dunno how their prices will be like. I get my name cards printed by them

visha > if you know where to find a good printer, I know where you can find the binder to do flush mount albums ... :P

last time i did a 20 page 15x15 album for my friend, the cost price was around $120 for the binding.

darrel: =) if i need extra album i find you.... but now no photo cannot do anything.....

haha... very eager.... cant wait for my pre-wedding photography

VV: 1k is O Studio.. it's quite value for money. But i did not sign with O studio coz i dun know which photographer will be taking my photos.

i am taking TheMovingFrame (Jonathan Chan).. his package is 1.5k for 4R shots with express highlight and 2.3k with coffee table and express highlight. Btb, you may wish to meet him and ask him how he is able to cater to your needs.

I am taking his coffee table. He is also eligible as a WPJA member just that he has yet to activate his account. He is nice and flexible. =)

Thomas: yup, i am at home today.. not feeling too well.

darrel: then u help me la....lol.......
anyway not now la..... guess by the time u also too bz to help le....

everyone so bz.....

when is ur pre-wedding ps?

my ps ... haven't set the date yet. Its a open date. To be confirmed later.

My wife's gown is MTM, and ours is a la carte. So after we go for the gown designing and have a complete, then can set a PS date. Anyway my PS quite flexible for me :P

yah ... I'm worried about the rain too. And I have no idea where I want my locations to be either.

Was quite tempted to do PS in japan cos my friend is working there. He offered to shoot for free. But no budget to fly there to do the shoot

darrel: hmmmmmm if i got friend shoot free..... i sure go.....lol......... treat it as a pre-wedding honeymoon.....

ling: hmmmm like nothing to prepare..... we can just wait here..lol

randyce: i dun have studio.... all is outdoor.... im using lighted pixels.
www.lightedpixels.com

my mtm already start doing le..... the size measurement may must take again..... was hoping to lose weight... hahahaha..... but so far.... dun think i lose any weight...lol

visha > I'm really really tempted to go
sad.gif

ling > i think most of the preps are done ...

My date, venue, ps, gown (my wife's gown i mean) :P all settled. Left the details which need to work out when it gets closer to the date.

Now busy with solemnization details.

what abt u ?

ling: all the dates settle le..... now waiting for the time to come only......

actually alot of things to do... but there are some things tat just have to wait la.... like GDL items...... accessories....

like i bought like 10 pairs of shoes for wedding gown since last yr till now (last yr i very excited)..... i think i also not sure will i wear them?..... cos eventually will see something more suitable..... guess i dun wanna do anything for the time being first
