Yes! All in one place :D some hotels can do it for us for free so save us the trouble of making the tea or buying a new tea set (although my parent offer to give us)

Have you shortlisted some of the hotels ? Next year Oct dates are hot. Asked around and some hotels are fully booked!!!

That's nice! Sadly both sides of our families are reluctant to do the tea ceremony at the venue. They prefer to do at home, so it is not an option for us...

We're looking at country clubs and considering Temasek Country Club. We've soft booked 27th Oct with them for now, and will likely go down this few days to discuss the package with them.

Hello! I've done my pws in Taiwan, but we signed a package during a road show here years back. PWS depends on your budget in mind and what do you expect to capture. Also bear in mind, th extra costs like air fares and accommodation cost which are likely not included in package..

Yeah. I realised it's not just for the photographer...gotta factor in air fare and accommodation for MUA too!

I've been trying to source for local photographers overseas but its been tough haha.

THanks! By some twist of fate we ended up not signing temasek and just signed with Peony Jade @ Keppel Club XD.
So I have my wedding dinner venue settled! All left is actual day photographer and videographer ;3

Wow! That good for u!! I’m still in the process of choosing my venue. When is your wedding ?

Hello!
I considered doing it in Japan originally. But ended up a little over budget, so we chose to sign Taiwan instead because it was far cheaper and could save up a bunch.

When I was thinking of doing Japan, I considered the below photographers.. maybe you can take a look for as reference.
John15 Photography - a little expensive, but their photos are beautiful! They do other countries beside Japan.
RayEoh Photography - Cheaper, with very nice photos too. They also do countries beside Japan.
Foiga Photography - Malaysian or Taiwanese photographers based in Japan.

Hi all btb! Have just made the decision to tentatively choose Dec 2018 for our wedding banquet. We are looking at a venue with min 8 to 10 tables requirement. Went to have a look at Faber Peak and looks good but a little steep. Any other recommendations for venue? Thanks!

A close family member of mine had a garden solemnisation at faber peak, my opinion on that place:

1) the service is not good, supposed to have free flow drinks but guests had to go to the bar counter to ask for drinks most of the time
2) another bad service is that the canapes were supposed to be hand held, but nobody served the food. the trays were left on the restaurant's outdoor tables and guests had to crowd around the tables to get food
3) the location is very very inconvenient

Nevertheless, the service you receive may be different, depends on luck, but luck can't change #3

Whats yr budget?

Ideally below $1k - $1.2k nett/table. The thing with Faber Peak is that they are currently having promotion which includes 1 table FOC with min 10 tables, and the garden solemnization for free as well. But we have to confirm by next Sunday, which is kind of a rush.

True that the location is very inconvenient but the package does include a coach service to and fro 1 location. I like the view though :) but would be bad if it rains, and yeah guess the service is really a case of luck. Thanks for the info! Will take this into consideration.

Try tong le private dining? At OUE tower. Nice food, great view, weather safe. But not your usual hotel ballroom setup though. If u r looking for intimate setup, I would recommend this plc.

Htb is interested in Carlton but still slightly over our budget. Have taken a look at Tong Le Private Dining's website, looks good. Can't find much info on events and weddings etc but have emailed them. Thanks!

Hi Pokiepokie,

I’m doing mine early next year in Taiwan. I got my package at a roadshow last year.

SihuiL is right. The accomodation, airfare may not be included. There are other costs like additional photos, ampoule for make up (especially important if you are doing the PWS at somewhere cold). You will need to ask in detail like number of gowns & suits and number of looks included in the package. Like mine, there are only 2 suits for the guy but they included styling to make it a total of 4 different outlook.

I would suggest that you do a breakdown of the expected cost from to better compare the prices for the various countries.

Lots of research and enquiry to be done to ensure better budget planning.

Congrats!

Just went for a wedding lunch at peony jade @ Clarke Quay last weekend and the food was really good!
Would have gone for peony jade @ Clarke Quay too if we can meet the minimum tables, nice outdoor venue for solemnisation too

Dear btbs, I am currently deciding between September or October 2018 for my wedding date. Which month would be better for an outdoor wedding? I checked the monthly rainfall in Singapore. October is slightly higher in monthly total rainfall and number of rain days. And also is it important to choose an auspicious wedding date? Advice needed. Thanks.

Hello Allyyy, if you're looking at september or october you have to decide fast.. because mid Sep - mid Oct is lunar 8th month, lots of venues would have been reserved as of now, especially if you're looking at auspicious dates.. At th end of th day, looking at th rainfall rate is one thing, but i think it's very hard to gauge and you always need to have contingency plans if you're looking at outdoor weddings regardless of th months.

Thanks SihuiL for ur reply. I am in a dilemma now. My father-in-law chose an auspicious date for us in September 2018. But we initially decided on October 2018 as our plans are more comfortable. There will be more time to process our pre-wedding photoshoot photos and also we got more time to prepare all the details for our wedding. Then now I researched and it seemed like September would be less rainy. Haiz

I've created this page as I'm supposed to be a Dec 2017 bride but as parents insist on me and htb to get our dates calculated. So might be pushing it to beginning of 2018 or mid 2018.

Any 2018 brides out there?

I understand that booking of major vendors is usually done 1 year in advance. What about all the details planning? E.g. food, décor, emcee, music etc. How long will the entire planning take?

Hello Allyyyy, at th end of th day, pick a date you're most comfortable with tht work between th parties and also a few others (mayb 2 more), just increase th venue does not have availability on your preferred date you would still have alternatives. Well, whether is it Sep or Oct 2018, you have enough time to prepare.. There's still time! :)

As for your next questions on venues, there's no specific time range, just as early as possible.. Because there are a lot of brides who book 1 - 1 1/2 years in advance tht's why venues are getting booked so fast. Normally PG, MUA will start taking booking within 10 - 12 months ahead? It depends on th vendor itself. If you really have a vendor of your liking it's better to book earlier, just in case he/she is taken up you would have enough time to search for th 2nd one.
- For my venue, i took only a month to settle down with what i've researched, partly also due to the perks and timeline required to confirm with th hotel.
- For PG, i took bout 1 month to finalize and confirm because i'm th kiasu type and i went through almost every PG's portfolio..
- For Emcee, it was fast.. 2 - 3 days? I only inquired with 01 vendor and found them sincere..
- Food & Decor wise are nearer to your AD, whereby you'll confirm with your vendors, unless.. you're renting a place and planning from scratch, which will be more time consuming.
- Music, imo shouldn't take long too.
- Bridal Boutique, will take some time as well but then again depends on your requirements?

While th rest like schedule of the luncheon/dinner, bridesmaids, invitation cards, gowns selection.. imo these are things you can start to plan 6 months prior to your AD? Too early also can't do much..

Went to view Carlton yesterday. Found out that we get to use the waterfall area for solemnisation, with a backup function room in case it rains. And the Esplanade room is cosy plus pretty exclusive. Currently Carlton is our first choice due to location and overall feeling. :)

Thank you SihuiL for your very detailed reply! Really helpful for lost brides like me hehe! Planning a wedding is tedious and stressful. But no matter what, it's meant to be a joyous event I guess. :)

hi, i am a 2018 BTB, but would be doing my ROM this year first (2017). However, I do want to do a vows ceremony again during my AD. Was wondering if anyone has done this before and is a JP required again for the vows ceremony during AD?

Hey ladies, for those who have chosen their venue, may I know the deciding factor? I am still deciding between Carlton and Faber Peak. Am going to view one more tonight but most probably will come to a decision within this week. Just want to know what are some of the things to consider, other than budget. TIA!

Hi Allyyy, No worries on that! It's a pleasure :) I do agree it's tedious and stressful, especially in this age of social media where everyone posts pictures of weddings.. I was lost a couple of months back and all's smooth now!

Btw, we didn't go for geomancer to pick auspicious dates for our upcoming wedding. I just randomly chose a few dates from the lunar calendar that states to be good and picked a date from there without looking further. Not gonna do an chuang or auspicious timing too. I guess at the end of th day it depends on your parents and htb's parents if they are superstitious.

Hi Candyapple, it depends on your requirements! For me, it was:
- Food (if it's prepared by Chinese Restaurant because we were particular on that)
- Reception Area & Ballroom (if we are going to have tht area to ourselves, existing ballroom conditions)
- Location (if it's gonna be convenient for our guest by public transport)
- Affordability (within budget?)
- Themes (i think this is important, because you wont want to pick a hotel which you never liked any of th themes.. won't want to spend big bucks changing everything..)

My 2 cents worth. :)

MEEEEEE!! My wedding date is the same date as our courtship. We find that getting married on the same date will be more memorable.

Would appreciate some advice from all btb. How's the program like if I would like to hold my tea ceremony at the venue and a banquet dinner at night? Is it something like this:

Morning:
- Bride's hair and make-up
- Gatecrash
- Groom fetch bride to his place
- Couple returns to bride's place
Late afternoon:
- Tea ceremony
- Bride's hair and make-up
Evening:
- Banquet dinner

Hi! Then ur hair and make-up have to be done before tea ceremony right? Cos if we do hair and make-up after tea ceremony, those relatives involved in tea ceremony will have to wait very long at the venue before the banquet dinner starts.

Am I very behind schedule sigh

Hmm... i planned to start tea at 545-6. Prepared snacks/canapé at 645(?). While they wait, I will touch up my make up and change hairstyle.
