(2016) 2016 brides

Hi I am a 2016 bride, but my AD will be falls on Xmas Eve. Supposedly to pick Sept 2016 but banquet slots are almost full. Afraid will have low turn up rate cos is school holiday
Try to see if there will be potential any road closure for xmas celebrations events esp when considering ur venue in orchard.

Hello, I'm looking for chinese style banquet, approx 22-23tables. Hopefully ballrooms got no pillar and preferably to be square shape. We at hoping to keep our budget at around $1.5k per table.
marina mandarin food is good so far for the banquets i hv attended there.

@DJ2016 haha! So funny you.

@karoru which hotel will you be at havelock road? Mine is around that area too. :)

Perhaps you can try go ogling the road closures for xmas 2014? See if havelock road is listed or not. But then again it really depends on this year events.
If you're worried about low turn up?perhaps you can do the save the date earlier? Like earlier part of the year before they plan their trips. And then like 3 months before your AD to further confirm. Marriage is once in a lifetime. I'm sure your loved ones will turn up for your wedding instead of booking the trip! :)

@Happy_marriage Congrats to you too! :) which month will your AD falls in?

Perhaps you can have the date to shortlist the ballroom on its availability. From the shortlisted list you created you can see which one provides the better perks and which ballroom you & your htb prefer. (:

Thanks @caren_c My AD is in jun 2016.. How about u?

Yea, currently I'm looking at park royal on beach road.. Because the one at Pickering street is full alr. Not sure if anyone of you got any reviews on park royal @ beach road?

@DJ2016 i wanna check out marina mandarin too, but the price per table exceeded our budget and I heard vanda ballroom is with pillar and low ceiling. So not sure how it will turn out to be..

If you are not v fussy about the hotel lobby appearance, you can try Furama City Centre. I am having my lunch banquet there in Jan. The banquet hall is squarish with no pillars.

@Happy_marriage park royal @ beach road is really nice. The ballrooms are newly furbished as well. But it will exceed your 1.5k per table because if I don't rmbr wrongly, its 1,688++ per table. That's also the main reason why my fiance and I didn't take up park royal.
Can arrange a date to go down and speak to a coordinator. (:

@DJ2016 congrats on your upcoming wedding! Ok, I will check that out! Hope it will be good~

@caren_c today I went for an impromptu site inspection at park royal. At beach road today. @StrawberrieShortie crowne plaza is already full on my AD, as for Carlton I heard that they are very strict with their perks..

In summary I went to Marina mandarin (MM) vanda room and park royal at beach road.. MM has got low ceiling and has got 2pillars at the side..
Park royal ballroom is indeed very nice with high ceiling and pillar less ballroom. However, the cocktail reception area seems to be sharing with grand ballroom. Not sure if it will be an issue for guest who may be confused by which ballroom to go if both ballrooms are used for wedding that day..

Hi @MissBeee! You can go down to the fair and just take a look at what a package should contain. Personally I don't suggest signing up at the fair itself although I don't deny there are alot of perks.
Reason being is when you sign at the booth, you don't exactly see the ballroom of the hotel or the range of gowns you're allowed to choose from. Esp the bridal studio part, ppl sign the contract without knowing that they might need to top up to choose gowns from 'another range'. So this part is tricky. Suggest you go down to the bridal boutiques shop directly to understand the gown range better. :) but then again it's all up to you! :)
Just rmbr to be firm because some vendors can get rather pushy at the fairs.

The aerial shoot that youre referring to - are you talking about photography or videography?

Thnz for the advice Caren! I think I'll still drop by and take a look.

Hmm I'm refering to aerial videog shoot

I think @Azen1988 mentioned unique colours. Maybe you can check them out! I just visited their site recently, love their aerial videography. Showed my wife and she is very impressed with their AD videography as well!

Take a look at their overseas videos. Got feel ah hahaha. Maybe you can take a look! www.unique-weddings.com

Hello all btb,

Do you know how long does the photographers take to reply an email? I have contacted a few photographers last week & I haven't got any reply till date.
Is that normal?

they usually reply me in 1 to 2 days max. weekends usually they are more busy as they will be covering AD events, weekdays should be better!

Most of them are very prompt in reply. Within 48 hours should get a reply. But sometimes they could have missed you email if they are the popular kind.. so maybe you want to follow up with them again? (It happened to me before and I never contacted that pg already.)

@AceOfXF Hi! :) Congrats to you hehe. Which month will your Big Day be!

@mandylove Agree with @bonbons , could be they are busy with the assignments at hand + covering duties on weekends. The one i contact usually take 1-2 days to reply me though. perhaps you drop them another email just in case they missed out your first email? :)

@tulipkiss Apparently May is a popular month! or so i've heard from my banquet coordinator/the various personnel at bridal boutiques/etc. Hope you'll get a location of your choice soon :)

I'm down to 3 venues for now, finally! Any suggestions how should we decide?? o_O

Venue A - can cater to 600 guests (we can still narrow the gues tlist down to just 400+ pax, so this is more of a backup venue while we finalize the guest list)
Venue B - I like the ballroom and decor
Venue C - my fiance likes it for the hotel reputation and price (cheaper than B and C)

And your bridesmaid & maid of honor if you are having any too :) If you are having bridesmaids, then you will need to think about the dress code, and their responsibilities to lighten up your load

I would go with either venue B or C. If you are ok to share the venues, maybe we can give some inputs :)
For me, i've been to these hotels for events/weddings/site visits: Crown Plaza, Hotel Fort Canning, Mandarin Orchard, Novotel, Orchard Hotel, Mandarin Oriental, Carlton, CHIJMES, Ritz Carlton, Capella, St Regis..

My final selection is Crowne Plaza because of the high ceiling, nice ballroom and holding area, decent food reviews, outdoor garden solemnization venue, and i guess price is pretty reasonable (unless you are like me, and chose the "hot" date)

That's weird.. they are usually quick in their email replies. I received a few who got back to me within the day, and max was like after 24 hours.

What about Carlton Hotel? or Orchard Hotel? The food is good..the decor, i guess is subjective.. lol.. the only thing about these 2 hotels is that, they have more than on ballroom, so you might have to share holding area with the other couple's guests..

A very very cheap and very value for money hotel is Novotel. My friend got such a good deal, the "crave value" side of me almost booked it too! their rates were super cheap.. with full flow beer, red and white wine, 2 hour photobooth, 2 night stay etc etc.. the perks they give is like super attractive.. The hotel exterior is slightly older compared to the other hotels i went to visit. but... the ballrooms have just been refurbished so it looks very pretty. the food is decent.

Yeah man! Novotel was so cheap my bf was really really interested to sign with them immediately.. But I had issues with the exterior so we didn't sign with them in the end..

Wow! Your choice of hotel range is quite big.. From 4* to 6* hotel.. Haha

Crowne hotel was also one of our top choice (both me and my bf love it and really wanted it) but gave it up in the end coz of the location... :(

Yea my fiancé had issues with the exterior too, so we procrastinated and so thankful my fiancé stopped me from making the rash decision...

Haha our range was more of oriental, but the prices for next year were so expensive for dinner, Manageable for lunch. And we both felt that oriental will feel nicer for a dinner cause the holding area is like pretTy dark . The reason why I visited the other hot le before was cause I did events at those places.. Love it but price not that much

Oh I see! Yeah didn't consider some hotels u mentioned because of the price tag..

I love crowne plaza for the exclusivity of the holding area..

haaa... the exterior and lobby of the hotel i booked also cmi. But the actual banquet area was okay as it was pillarless and squarish, and since they only hv 1 banquet per session (lunch or dinner), there is no need to share the reception area with other couple, food js supposedly great there, location convenient and we save a few k. So i told my htb to cover my eyes until we reach the banquet hall...lol.

Always work around your budget! And factor in a extra x amount just in case... From there work and see which venue suits you more.. Deco etc can be diy-ed etc

I booked MO after comparing it between Crowne and Grand Copthorne. MO has been always my dream hotel, yes the prices are steep. Even my mil got a shock hahaha. So i have to share the banquet cost with htb...because he wanted GC and I just "psycho him" to sign up on the road show.

Does ROM open on Saturday morning? Can I solemnise in ROM on saturday morning?

Yea I know what you mean.. that’s a good decision, and your HTB was understanding to accommodate too.. what you really don’t want is go with GC when it’s not really the one you want, then 10 years down the road when you both quarrel, you start bringing up the past. .haha… that’s what my bro-in law said.. which I thought.. ya quite true… if 10 years down the road I suddenly get very angry with him, at least I can look back at the photos and remember the reason why I fell in love with him and married him.

In accordance to pricing and my liking.. haha..
A; GBTB
B: St Regis
C: Fullerton

i'm not holding solemnisation on the same day. so it's really just banquet reception :)

we have measured pros and cons of each venue, but still can't decide on one yet! would appreciate all advice.. :)
