Wedding 2015 - When to start sourcing for banquet venues?

Hi,

We are planning to have our wedding early 2015 (sometime in Feb or Mar). Is it too early to start sourcing for wedding venues? I doubt the price lists are out yet though.

I have friends who secured their wedding venue 1.5 years before their wedding dates.

Hi Jooosl,

you can start doing 'homework' by sourcing, shorlisting etc. Dont necessary need to sign first. If the date you pick is a hot one e.g. double dates etc. then it will be better to secure it fast.

Just to share with you, my initial wedding date (planned) was 20/09/14. I started looking around for BS in Aug 12, hotel venues in Dec 12. I'm glad I did. Because due to passing away of a close relative of my hubby, my whole wedding was brought forward and I got married in Apr 13.

Yup I agree. You can start doing your home work already and viewing the hotels and places that you have shortlisted.

Once you have a shortlisted list, you can start looking out if they have bridal shows or road shows where they will always have better perks.

My wedding was also planned way in adv. I am looking at oct 2014 but I started bs in end 2011 and also secured by venue in beg 2013.

Most places will not be open for booking yet but if you have a fixed date in mind, you can let the hotel or the venue know and sometimes you can get them to give you the date at 2013 pricing. Can save quite a bit this way cause every year the price per table will increase.

Any particular venues you looking at right now?

I'm just looking around and yet to shortlist any.

I'm looking at pillar less venues with chandeliers. Any recommendations? Not too pricey too. Budget around $1500 per table I would say.

30 tables will be best for me. Which are some of the venues that you ladies have been to and you think it's worth exploring?

I explored most of the hotels in marina, orchard and sentosa area. I personally like the grand ballroom in fairmont and also four seasons.

Maybe you can let us know what are some of the hotels that you are looking at and we can share some of our exp if we have done the site visit there before

Hi Jooosl perhaps you can consider Capella's Grand ballroom. It's a pillarless round room, should be able to take 30 tables easily and the basic package is still in your budget. But they are increasing their prices soon and I'm not sure how much it is after that.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm keen to explore Capella. Only worry is the venue's quite out of the way. I'll probably need to cater for shuttle buses.

You may also like to try visiting wedding banquet venues here: http://singaporebrides.com/banquets.php . Some of the venue pages include photo gallery and virtual tour of the ballroom. You may also like to visit wedding banquet pricelist. Even though the prices for 2015 are not included yet, but by looking through the list, you can have an idea the minimum booking and maximum capacity of the venues.

Hi, it wouldnt be to early. Mine will be on May 2015 and we have already settled the wedding venue. You can actually email them and they will inform you whether it is open for booking. For those that are open for booking, they will advise whether the price will be going up or whether they are offering it to you at the 2014 rate if you sign up with them asap. Hope this helps

Hi Wrsugarlemon, I booked fairmont. My bf emailed quite a long list of hotels that I liked and then we zoned in on that. Fyi, they are having a wedding fair on 13 Apr 2014. So you can go down and look at the themes and what they have to offer, I was told by the Executive of Romance that they have those special stalls serving up peking duck etc as well. So its like an additional thing that the couple might want to add on. Hope this helps!
