wedding Dowry pls advise

Hi all.
Im a BTB in Dec..
Have a question, have accepted bridal angpow from my HTB.
Does my mom have to use the bridal angpow $ to buy me jewellery as my dowry? Can she bao me angpow instead?
Also, normally the bridal angpow, whats do we normally spend it on?

it's for your mum to cover the stuff she is going to spend on your wedding, the tea reception (buffet, etc...)
