But while this new-found ritual popularised by social media might be pleasing to watch, it’s worth pondering the practicality of it all. Viral bridesmaid proposals are based on honouring friendships of a lifetime, but have swiftly created new, often expensive expectations for brides and bridesmaids-to-be in the process, and it can be conflicting when elaborate renditions of this meaningful milestone are presented as the standard.

There isn’t a universal rule on when bridesmaids should be proposed to.
