Lynn and Ian’s Intimate and Romantic Wedding at La Terrace at Claudine Restaurant
To celebrate their nuptials, Lynn and Ian threw their family and friends an intimate and romantic two-day wedding celebration.
Lynn Chong, 33, Legal Counsel, and Ian Ong, 36, AVP, first met through a mutual friend. Though life placed them in different countries, they stayed connected, drawn together by conversations that felt easy, honest, and quietly reassuring. Across distance and seasons of change, their relationship deepened into a partnership defined by patience, encouragement, and the comfort of knowing they were always on the same team. To honour that journey, they chose an intimate two-day celebration — beginning at home, where love felt most familiar, and continuing at Claudine Restaurant, a place close to their hearts, allowing their closest family and friends the time and space to truly connect and celebrate alongside them.
Share with us your story. How did the two of you meet?
We met one summer at a birthday party through a mutual friend. Shortly after, we returned to our respective lives in Paris and the United Kingdom, but stayed in touch, and eventually started dating across the distance.
What drew you to each other?
There was an ease to our conversations from the start — honest, unfiltered, and often full of laughter. It felt natural to be around each other, like we could skip the small talk and just be ourselves.
What is it about your partner that you love the most?
Lynn: He is, without question, my biggest cheerleader. And his quirkiness — with Ian, there’s never a dull moment.
Ian: Her patience to accommodate my quirkiness and ability to see the best in other people.
What was the moment that made you realise that he/she was the one for you?
It wasn’t a single moment, but a series of them. From meeting as kids, stumbling through our 20s, dating across borders, and sharing the same space — bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and all — we realised that when all the romantic highs settle, we have something solid. We make a good team, and that’s when we knew.
What was your wedding planning and wedding day like?
We knew from the start that we wanted an intimate celebration — something that gave us the space and time to connect with our guests. The wedding ended up being a two-day affair. We held the solemnisation and welcome dinner at home, surrounded by our closest family and friends. It was warm, personal, and allowed our foreign guests to experience a little slice of what “home” means to us — both in atmosphere and in flavour.
The following day, we hosted a wedding lunch and dinner reception at Claudine — a venue we’ve always loved. During the day, the stained glass windows flood the space with soft, natural light, while in the evening, the rich burgundy ceilings create an intimate, romantic mood.
Inspired by Claudine’s colour palette, we chose an autumnal theme — warm, earthy tones that brought out the beauty of the space and echoed the feeling of quiet romance we wanted the day to hold.
To close the evening, we had a sparkler walk-in on the terrace that led into our first dance. Then, we opened up the dance floor for the after party, and the celebration truly began.
What was the day like and how were you feeling?
There were definitely some nerves, especially in the lead-up to the solemnisation, but they quickly fell away. The key was to be present and really soak in each moment. After all, how often do you get to spend an entire weekend surrounded by all the people you love most.
What did your family/friends have to say about your wedding day?
Everyone had a blast. From the quiet exchanges to the bursts of laughter, warm embraces, and the wild energy on the dance floor — it was truly one for the books.
Share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding.
Man, there were so many, but if I had to pick one, it would be exchanging our vows. It was sincere, emotional, and one of the few still moments in an otherwise whirlwind weekend. A moment to pause and take in the weight and beauty of what we were stepping into — a lifetime together.
What is one lesson you’ve learned from your wedding planning that you’d like to share with other couples?
It’s easy to get caught up in making sure every detail goes according to plan, but at the heart of it all, it’s a celebration of marrying your best friend. Let go of the pressure for perfection, everyone is there to celebrate with you and have a great time.
