Chanel & Javin’s Timeless, Picturesque Wedding At The St. Regis Singapore

With a shared appreciation for elegant European design and architecture, Chanel and Javin held their cherished wedding on the luxurious grounds of The St. Regis Singapore.

Following their pre-wedding shoot held at the charming Lake Como and Tuscan city of Florence, marketing director Chanel and founder of Common Suits Javin relished in the Italian-inspired aesthetic of their wedding. Held at The St. Regis Singapore, the blissful event exuded their united taste for the finer things in life.

What is it about your partner that you love the most?

Chanel: Javin is the most hardworking, passionate and selfless man I know. I’m attracted to that! Also, no one makes me laugh as much as he does.

Javin: Chanel is incredibly wise. Like my guardian angel, she constantly watches over me and helps to cover up the blind spots I often miss. Additionally, we can talk about anything and everything under the sun, which is why our conversations never seem to end.

What was the moment that made you realise that he/she was the one for you?

Chanel: As an entrepreneur, Javin spends a lot of time and energy focusing on his business. But despite that, he always makes time for us and is present when it matters most. His superpower is being able to solve any problem while somehow managing everything. How cool is that?

Javin: Chanel provides me with unwavering understanding and support—she stayed by my side through late nights at the workshop, never once complaining even when we stayed up till 3 a.m., and powered through intense, packed schedules with me during work trips. She puts me first, only needing me to be present when we spend quality time together.

Tell us more about your pre-wedding shoots. Did you have a specific theme or venue in mind?

Chanel: Italy has always held a special place in our hearts. I have fond memories of us wandering through cobblestone alleys, marvelling at the architecture and indulging in our love for pasta. Hence, we couldn’t resist holding two of our pre-wedding shoots at the dreamy, serene Lake Como and in Florence, known for its Renaissance charm.

What was the pre-wedding shoot planning like?

Chanel: We played to our strengths. I took care of the creative direction and overall vibe, focusing on the cinematic aesthetic I had in mind. (Shoutout to our photographer, Julian, for nailing it!)

Javin: I handled the logistics, vendors and wardrobe. As the owner of a bespoke tailoring business, I have a deep appreciation for the finer details of craftsmanship and the artistry of clothing. I picked timeless, elegant outfits that would fit nicely against the backdrop of majestic mountains and quaint villas.

What are some of the most memorable moments from the shoot?

Chanel: Lake Como felt magical, it was as if time slowed down and every view looked like a painting. We stayed at Grand Hotel Tremezzo and took a private boat across the lake while our photographer captured our best moments. Florence was like walking through a living masterpiece. Every street, piazza, and cathedral exuded centuries of timeless beauty. We shot on the streets, alleyways, around the Duomo and at the stunning Villa Cora, where we stayed.

What about the sartorial shoot held in Singapore?

Chanel: It was held at The Singapore EDITION, a gorgeous place ideal for a more fashion-forward vibe. The brief from our photography team, Androids in Boots, called for a bold, editorial feel, so we decided on looks that pushed the envelope a bit more.

Javin: The star of the shoot was the stunning Nicole + Felicia gown that Chanel wore. It was the embodiment of luxury and elegance, with intricate details and a silhouette that complemented the vibe we wanted. Chanel looked absolutely breathtaking in it, so it became the focal point of the shoot. Meanwhile, I wore a classic white double-breasted tuxedo and a bolder orange corduroy tuxedo. The contrast of our outfits struck an ideal balance between timeless sophistication and modern flair.

Where was your wedding venue and why did you choose it?

Chanel: We wanted to bring home a touch of Italy with us, so timeless elegance was the perfect theme. The grandeur of The St. Regis Singapore was ideal, where opulence met intimacy.

What was the ambience like?

Chanel: Thanks to our vendors, elegant floral arrangements, a lit-up aisle, the band and thoughtfully curated table settings came together to elevate the entire experience.

Javin: Chanel is an easygoing bride, so planning the wedding was a breeze. We worked with an incredible team of vendors, trusting them to bring their creative vision to life. With minimal input from us, they had the freedom to showcase their talents, and the result was spectacular.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding?

Chanel: Some brides prefer to have the spotlight all on themselves, but I’ve always felt that grooms don’t get enough attention at weddings, so I wanted to share it with Javin. Thus, instead of focusing only on my wedding dress, Javin added personal touches to his suit too, which made him feel more involved. He also performed one of my favourite songs at the wedding, which was his moment to shine.

Javin: Leading up to the day, many customers were curious to know what I would be wearing, especially after dressing numerous grooms for their own weddings. With a wardrobe full of suits and countless styling possibilities, deciding my outfit felt like a dilemma initially. Ultimately, I chose white-tie appropriate ensembles. Inspired by traditional dress codes of the 1920s and the old charm of The St. Regis Singapore as our venue, I knew I wanted to wear something truly special, pieces I rarely had the chance to don. I decided on a mess jacket and a classic tailcoat, each capturing the elegance of white-tie attire. The former, with its crisp structure and subtle military cues, brought a fresh edge to the occasion. The tailcoat, timeless and stately, added a touch of old-world grandeur. Together, they perfectly complemented Chanel’s stunning look, while allowing me to make a meaningful statement of my own.

What is one lesson you’ve learned from your wedding planning that you’d like to share with other couples?

Chanel: Having planned and been a part of many shoots throughout our careers, we’ve learned that it’s important to stay realistic about what can actually be achieved. Use the schedule as a guide, but stay positive and enjoy the moment. Don’t stress over the unexpected—if it rains, embrace it and just shoot in the rain. After all, it’s about creating memories, not just perfect shots.

Javin: I want to pass on this great reminder, given to me by a friend just days before the wedding. He said, “Before you know it, you blink and the wedding is over. All the planning, all the stress—just like that, it’s done. The music stops, they start cleaning up the place, and you’re left wondering what just happened. Don’t succumb to it. Hold your wife’s hand and enjoy every minute.” So that’s exactly what I did.
