The Gift of Forever: A Magical Wedding Debut at Singapore’s Capitol Theatre

The Capitol Theatre, managed by The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore, staged a one-of-its-kind wedding musical show to the delight of soon-to-wed couples.

On 12 April 2025, The Capitol Theatre, one of Singapore’s most iconic heritage buildings, opened a new chapter in its storied history by staging its first-ever wedding musical show, The Gift of Forever, together with The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore. The event seamlessly blended the grandeur of classic theatre with the timeless romance of weddings, captivating guests with its enchanting set-up, emotional performances, and luxurious hospitality.

Set in the heart of Singapore’s Civic and Cultural District, the Capitol Theatre was transformed into a vision of elegance. Flowing sashes and dreamy floral arrangements framed the venue’s majestic interiors, while couples were treated to a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience designed to inspire their dream wedding celebrations.

The event served not only as a romantic spectacle but also as a bold demonstration of the theatre’s versatility. Once a home for silver-screen legends like Charlie Chaplin and Bruce Lee, the space now promises to host unforgettable weddings, galas, concerts, and corporate events—all within its stately neoclassical embrace.

“The Capitol Theatre is an outstanding restoration masterpiece. The Gift of Forever is the first of many one-of-a-kind events we aim to host to celebrate the theatre’s rich history and flexible potential,” said Andras Biro, General Manager of The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore. “With its unique charm and cutting-edge audio-visual systems, we believe the theatre will soon become one of the city’s most desirable event venues.”

The wedding musical show gave couples a dramatic illustration of how they too could wow their wedding guests with a wedding at the Capitol Theatre. They were not only visually delighted by the stage’s transformation but also pampered with an exquisite lunch curated by The Capitol Kempinski Hotel’s culinary team. The wedding tasting menu gave couples a taste of the luxury service and personalised experience Kempinski is renowned for worldwide.

The Capitol Theatre, originally built in 1929 by M.A. Namazie, is a neo-classical gem designed by British architects Keys and Dowdeswell. With its expansive dome ceiling depicting the 12 Greek zodiac signs and winged horse sculptures framing the stage, the theatre radiates historical significance and artistic flair. Its design was inspired by New York’s legendary Roxy Theatre, and it remains Southeast Asia’s first and only theatre with a rotational floor system—allowing for multiple configuration options to suit any event. With a seating capacity of 865 and fully modernised technical facilities, Capitol Theatre effortlessly merges old-world charm with contemporary excellence.

The Gift of Forever signals a new era for heritage venues—where history, luxury, and imagination meet to create unforgettable memories. Couples with a flair for the dramatic and an appreciation for history will find a unique wedding venue in stunning The Capitol Theatre, where they can walk in the footsteps of legends. Managed by The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore, The Capitol Theatre now offers a grand stage not just for vows, but for lifelong stories.
