Chloe and Simon’s Beautiful Pre-Wedding Shoot at Upper Pierce Reservoir Park, CHIJMES and National Gallery of Singapore
Chloe and Simon let their photographer have free reign over their pre-wedding shoot and ended up with beautiful photos that captured their love in its truest form perfectly.
When local content creator Simon Khung, 37, better known as Simonboy, saw Chloe Eong, 32, BWL Distributor, also known as Simongirl, on a dating app, he was immediately fascinated by her. She was his third and final date, and the driving force behind the start of his social media career and clothing brand, Chance. With her help and encouragement, the reformed drug addict and recent Christian convert vowed to work hard in building his career and brand for their future. After a meaningful surprise proposal that involved a renowned MediaCorp celebrity’s help to pull off, the loving couple embarked on a pre-wedding shoot with Rhapsody Weddings that captured nothing but their love and adoration in its purest form.
What made you fall in love with your partner, and what do you love the most about them?
Simon: I love that Chloe is really family-oriented. I remembered a time when we made plans to go out but she did not hesitate to cancel our date to take care of her nephew or help her elder sister do something. When that happened, I wasn’t angry at all, and that was when I knew she was the one because she knew to prioritise her family.
That was also the moment I knew she was going to be a good wife, mother and definitely a good daughter-in-law to my mother. The way she loves her nephew also showed me how much she loves children. Above all else, she didn’t look down on me despite my background, and even chose to stick by me when I had no career and only $50 in my name back then.
Chloe: I feel comfortable with him. From the moment we met, he didn’t pry into superficial matters like my occupation or earnings. Instead, he invested his time in getting to know the real me and introduced himself along with his background. He prioritised building a connection based on mutual respect and understanding, which I find very important, especially considering our different backgrounds and the fact that we initially met through a dating app.
He ensures that I am always aware of his whereabouts and activities, which helps prevent unnecessary misunderstandings and strengthens our bond. He keeps me updated on his progress, sharing details about whom he meets, his takeaways from meetings, and his feelings. This open communication fosters trust and builds a strong foundation for our relationship.
What was the moment that made you realise that he/she was the one for you?
Chloe: We’re just like any other couple, navigating life’s ups and downs together. While we may have our fair share of disagreements over trivial matters, what truly counts is how we handle them. Each time we face conflict, I witness his growth firsthand. He’s dedicated to bettering himself for the sake of our relationship. For example, his tendency to raise his voice when angered. While to me, yelling feels more suited to a confrontation than a loving exchange, and he’s made a conscious effort to adjust his approach. After expressing my feelings, he actively works to temper his reactions, ensuring that even in moments of anger, I never feel threatened. Though there’s always room for improvement, what matters most is his willingness to evolve for the sake of our relationship.
Simon, how did you prepare for Chloe’s surprise proposal?
Simon: I’ve always wanted to surprise Chloe with a proposal where there’s a crowd around us, and I want it to be meaningful. So, I called up Director Jack Neo to ask if I could propose to her at Papazao, a senior citizen walk event that is held on Sundays. He happily agreed because he said that it was a very meaningful thing to do. Then, I had my friends prepare the banner and hide behind some trees in case Chloe saw them. The whole time she was there, she thought she was there to help me film a shout-out for Jack. The surprise proposal was a success because I managed to make her cry!
Chloe, did you know a proposal was coming before it happened, or were you taken completely by surprise?
Chloe: I never expected a proposal since we had agreed to forgo such formalities, especially considering he had already gifted me a watch. However, much to my surprise, he ended up buying not one, but two proposal rings for me. Apparently, he felt the first one was too casual.
Take us back to your pre-wedding shoot. What was the day like?
Simon: We don’t have a specific theme or venue. As a content creator myself, I always believe in the full creativity and authority to reach the best result. So, I gave Desmond from Rhapsody Weddings full control of where and what theme. He was very patient and I really enjoy working with him.
We met at 7:00 am sharp at Upper Peirce Reservoir Park to catch the sun rise. To be honest, a pre-wedding shoot isn’t easy at all! It was really hot to be dressed in our wedding suit and gown, especially since we shot all the way until late in the afternoon. However, I can’t imagine how it would be like if it rained, so thankfully, the warm but dry weather worked in our favour. It was a success all thanks to Desmond’s planning.
Particularly, the most memorable moment happened when we felt very blissful to see each other in wedding attire. It made the love and fire in us reignite once again as we thought back to the day we fell in love to where we are today. We’ve come a long way and really treasure the love and time we’d spent together as we look forward to building a life hand in hand.
If you could share an advice or two with couples planning their pre-wedding shoot, what would it be?
Simon: I think for couples who are planning to take their pre-wedding shoot should attend a wedding showcase or event to browse around the different vendors. That was how Chloe and I got to know Desmond and other vendors. There’re plenty to choose from in terms of variety and style. Also, a pre-wedding shoot is once-in-a-lifetime, so I highly encourage them to go all out for their pre-wedding shoot!
