Alina and Sean’s Romantic Pre-Wedding Shoot Aboard A Yacht

Alina and Sean boarded a yacht for a romantic pre-wedding shoot on the seas.

Alina, 28, Sales, and Sean, 30, Finance, met while they were studying Business in university. After discovering that they shared many similarities and connected very well on every level, their friendship naturally grew into something more over time. When it came to planning for their pre-wedding shoot, the pair of lovebirds let their planner, Create Your Story, have full autonomy over the theme and venue of the shoot. They were pleasantly surprised with a unique pre-wedding shoot aboard a yacht, where they captured their love for one another on the sea and against a beautiful, romantic sunset.

What is it about your partner that you love the most?

Alina: I love his drive, his intelligence, and above all else, I love that he can be depended upon for everything.

Sean: I love her sense of adventure and the joy she brings everywhere she goes.

What was the proposal like?

Alina: Before the pandemic halted travel, we used to spend around six months travelling. However, due to the pandemic, we were not able to do so. So, Sean planned a day out to places around Singapore that made us forget that we were on this island, and it was at the end of this day that he proposed. We spent the day trying out sensory deprivation floatation pods, experienced the original Orient Express carriages that were in Singapore during that point in time, visited a Japanese bakery, an African restaurant, a desert-themed private bar with a real sand floor and enjoyed great cocktails at The Nomad’s Tent.

Tell us about your pre-wedding shoot. What was the day like?

Theme-wise, we gave Daniela from Create Your Story full creative autonomy based on the vibes that she could pick up from our Instagram accounts. We ended up with an outdoor shoot on a yacht and on the marina. It was raining that day when we arrived. However, the rain didn’t dampen our spirits as we were both very excited since it was our first photoshoot together.

Daniela made sure everything was well-planned-out and taken care of, and all we had to do was to turn up! She was very responsive and made sure that we were at the right place and on track for the photoshoot throughout the day. The weather, which initially presented an obstacle to our shoot, eventually cleared up and made way for a beautiful sunset, which resulted in some stunning shots for our shoot.

Share with us a funny or memorable moment from the day of your pre-wedding shoot.

There was a moment where we were trying out some night shots of us lying down on the net on the stern of the boat, when a big wave hit the boat and we were drenched. The wave that hit threw Elizabeth onto the net as well. We all had a good laugh and the shots that came out were very unique and candid too!

If you could share three pieces of advice with couples planning their pre-wedding shoot, what would they be?

First, choose a planner and photographer whose style you like, either based on reviews, word of mouth, or their work with past clients. If you do so, not only will you love the end result, the entire shoot will be an enjoyable experience and you will feel comfortable taking those intimate shots in front of the photographer too.

Secondly, for brides, choose a gown that is a different style from the one you chose for your actual wedding day, so you get the best of both worlds and different looks for your pre-wedding shoot and actual wedding day.

Lastly, even though the photographer will give you direction, it will be good to take a look at other couples’ pre-wedding shoots to get some inspiration for the poses you could do. Different poses give off different vibes, so you can choose what poses you’d like to do based on the vibes you’re going for, or what represents you both well.
