Brenda and Hon Tian’s Tamarind Hill Wedding with an Under the Sea Theme
Brenda and Hon Tian exchanged vows in a casual and relaxed Tamarind Hill wedding with an “Under the Sea” theme, where she wore a blue wedding dress inspired by a mermaid.
Brenda Tan, 31, Jewellery Maker and Designer of WhereBilly, and Gan Hon Tian, 33, Cyber Security Analyst tied the knot on 11 November 2017 in a relaxed and casual Tamarind Hill wedding. The couple celebrated with a beautiful “Under the Sea” theme, and the bride wore a blue wedding dress inspired by a mermaid, designed by Amanda Lee Weddings!
How did you meet?
Brenda: We met in school during our university days. His friend introduced us, and it was love at first sight for me. He didn’t feel the same.
What do you love most about your partner?
Brenda: I was first attracted to his looks and his build. I love that he always tolerates me and loves me unconditionally. I love that I can be totally honest and be my true self when I am with him.
What was the proposal like?
Brenda: It was a surprise in a hotel while we were having a holiday in Bangkok. He planned with the staff and decorated our hotel room. It was a cozy, private affair.
How did you create your wedding?
Brenda: I wanted an “Under the Sea” theme. I also imagined myself as a mermaid. I have always felt that white gowns were too mainstream, and I wanted something special in my favourite color, blue. So, I got Pearlyn from Amanda Lee Weddings to design my blue wedding dress! I did all the designing, coordinating and planning for the wedding. He simply paid for everything. That is the best way to avoid conflict of interest.
What was your wedding day like?
Brenda: Our wedding day was very casual. It turned out how I imagined it to be. There was no formal emcee. My sister helped to gather the guests for our march in. I made my own announcements over the mic. Everybody just walked around, mingled, and had fun. It was a super informal wedding. During the wedding, my husband and I were just walking around separately talking to our close friends and relatives like in any other gathering. I think my guests felt really relaxed as well.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Brenda: I think the most memorable moment was when we exchanged our vows. I can’t exactly remember what he said in his vows, but I was touched by him just being there for me physically and spiritually.
