Daren Tan and Nadia Lum’s Wedding with a Secret Garden Theme in Grand Hyatt Singapore

Celebrity couple Daren Tan and Nadia Lum’s wedding had a Secret Garden theme! Held in Grand Hyatt Singapore, the wedding was a colourful garden affair blooming with florals.

You’ve seen their dreamy Korean pre-wedding photos and read about their romantic surprise proposal on the beach. Now Nadia Lum, 30, Doctor, and Daren Tan, 34, Entrepreneur, Actor are sharing the details of their Secret Garden wedding, captured beautifully by John Lim Photography! The Singaporean actor, singer, and entrepreneur wed his beloved on 18 November 2017, dressed in a floral blazer for the garden theme while bride Nadia wore Whitelink Bridal. What did you envision for your wedding?

Nadia: I wanted a wedding day celebrated with close family and friends, surrounded with my favourite colours, pretty flowers, and sunshine! We thus decided to hold our wedding solemnisation outdoors. First, I decided on the mood and theme colours—rustic floral garden and sage green, blush, pink, and champagne. We also sent reminders to our guests to dress according to the theme colours in floral print! Daren was happy to comply to my requests!

Even before I dated Daren I used to peruse SingaporeBrides to get inspiration on wedding day decor and themes, and select pictures. I like to just scroll through them when I unwind!

How was working with your wedding vendors?

Nadia: Coming from a non-design/creative background, I definitely learnt a lot from planning my own wedding! I learnt about cakes, decor, event planning, artisanal soaps, flowers, and can even name a few subspecies of flowers! It was fun working with all the vendors, for example when we had meetings and discussions–throwing ideas around was really enjoyable. The vendors were all extremely resourceful and compliant to our requests. Some of the vendors became our friends after the wedding!

I especially had a good time working with Sandome Cura, my wedding favours vendor–we discussed and threw around a few ideas and ended up with four different customised wedding favours with all natural fragrance choices for our guests!

Daren: Finding the right vendors was very important to us as they are pivotal to bringing out the best of our special day. The vendors we worked with were great. They were professional, detailed, and responded well to our demands.

Nadia placed me in charge of picking our photographer and videographer! I am fortunate to be able to fulfil her request by picking our wedding day videographer and photographer John Lim Photography, both of whom I found on SingaporeBrides–they captured the best angles of my wife!

What was your wedding day like?

Nadia: Our wedding day is one of the most beautiful days of my life! A lot of my relatives flew down all the way from Kuala Lumpur to attend our wedding. Our family members, bridesmaids, and groomsmen did 90% of the work on our wedding day and helped put Daren and I at ease. We were truly the Prince and Princess of the day! Prior to the wedding day, a lot of friends gave me advice like, “Some things might not go according to plan,” “Remember to eat breakfast,” “Keep your ang pows”. I found the advice extremely useful, and was prepared when some (minor) things did not turn out the way I wanted. At the end of the day, I realised what a happy and wonderful day it was, and I am now officially married to the man of my dreams!

Daren: Our wedding day couldn’t have gone better. From the morning solemnisation to the evening dinner, it went well. It was possibly due to Nadia’s planning and the vendors’ execution. Our families’, bridesmaids’, and groomsmen’s effort and contribution was immense. It was tough to plan and execute as we did not have a wedding planner but we think we did quite an awesome job all together.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?

Daren: The most memorable moment would be seeing Nadia walking towards me with her parents during the morning solemnisation, followed by surprising our dinner guests with our second march-in song performance. It was our first performance together as a couple and everyone was surprised Nadia could sing!

Nadia: The most memorable moment for me was walking down the aisle with my parents towards Daren. I could see his eyes were full of emotion, and I knew he had been waiting for someone like me all his life, as I had for him.
