AforArcade Founders Min and Collin’s Beautiful Wedding at Grand Hyatt Singapore

AforArcade founders Min and Collin wed in a beautiful ceremony at Grand Hyatt Singapore, after a lighthearted photo session with their best mates in the alleys of Joo Chiat!

High school sweethearts Min Poh, 31, Self Employed and Collin Goh, 31, Self Employed had been together half their lives before they wed. The AforArcade founders chose to keep their day merry and simple, and commemorated their wedding on 3 July 2016 with a relaxed photo session with their best mates dressed in the AforArcade label in the alleyways of Joo Chiat, and a heartfelt wedding celebration filled with warm words and wishes at Grand Hyatt Singapore.

How did the two of you meet?

Collin: At school. We first knew of each other’s presence in Secondary Two; we had common friends but we didn’t really talk then. It was in Secondary Three when we entered the same class that we became closer, and have been together since.

What sparked your interest in each other?

Min: He was quite different from the other boys that age. He was quiet, steadfast, not eager to please, and confident. I guess it’s his confidence that sealed the deal for me back then and now.

Collin: To be honest? Her looks. In my own defense, I was a fifteen-year-old. Eventually what truly got me “smitten” was how enthusiastic she was about life, how she always livens up a dull room, and how pure and kind her intentions are towards any situation.

What was the proposal like?

Min: We were in Berlin for holiday, and he mentioned that morning that we could visit Charlottenburg Palace. I got suspicious already because he never ever plans an itinerary, much less suggests places of interests to visit. That didn’t work out though, because a quick Google search showed that the Palace was closed for that day.

We ended up at a random open square in Berlin, and he proposed in chilly winds and a light drizzle. I later knew that he had wanted to propose in an open plaza, lit with beautiful natural sunlight, and with a crowd so that people could clap for us when I say, “Yes.” But eh, it was winter and it was raining that day. In case you are wondering, two old folks walked past and they did stop briefly to smile at us during the proposal!

What was the theme of your wedding?

Collin: No theme. Our priorities were really to ensure that we enjoy the process, for our parents to be happy, and to have an event that is true to us with minimal hassle. We also thought that what’s left to relive this moment at the end of the day would be in the photos, so we hired a good photography and videography team to capture the good vibes of the actual day.

Min: We ordered life-size standees of ourselves so our guests could take photos with “us”. For sure, some of our guests had more fun with our standees than with us that day!

What was your wedding day like?

Min: Everything went by like a blur. We were dead beat by the end of the luncheon, and just glad it was over.

Can you share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?

Min: I didn’t think I’d be nervous at all that day but the jitterbugs really hit me before the march-in. My dad was going to walk me in, and when I told him I was shaking, he held my hands in his own and told me, “Don’t be nervous; Dad is here.” I’ll remember that moment forever.

Collin: The moment when I saw a video that we had no prior knowledge of, appear on the big screen. It was a surprise video that had all our close friends and colleagues talking about our relationship and sending their best wishes.
