An Intimate Adventure on Coney Island Styled Shoot

This engagement session styled shoot takes Michele and Joey on an intimate adventure, as they explore Coney Island for the first time, armed with an illustrated map.

We’re always excited when creative vendors share their work with us! This beautiful styled shoot tells the story of Michele and Joey, a real couple who value how photos frame memories of their time together, especially when they travel. “We love how we could keep the backdrops of amazingly beautiful places we’ve travelled to, all as snapshots to look and smile back on, even with our little family in future,” they share.

With their story and personalities in mind, stylists The Joy Troopers designed a styled shoot adventure for Michele and Joey to explore Coney Island for the first time. Equipped with their bicycles, a Poloroid, and an illustrated map, Michele and Joey would discover little stations designed for them around the island, to fulfil the mission inscribed on the map:

“Your mission is to enjoy the journey and create beautiful memories. Observe your surroundings. Take care of each other. Collect things on this little island. A flower. Some sand. Something that catches your attention. Take pictures of one another. Take selfies. Cycle with your hands up. Carry her on your shoulder. Smell the flowers. Have fun. Dance.”

“We wanted this styled shoot to be “interactive” and engaging, with a mix of staged and natural elements,” shares Hanzhi of The Joy Troopers. “How the couple interacts with each other and how they decide to act accordingly on this journey is rather organic.” Dressed with hair and makeup by Xiao Jing of Xiao Jing Makeup and with flowers in pastels with pops of pink and playful yellow by Fleur Boutique, Michele and Joey’s adventure began.

As they made new memories through the forests and on the beach, their adventure was captured by Kenneth of Five Twenty Library, who focused on the couple being their natural selves. Believing nothing is more incredible and beautiful than special moments, Hanpin from Chocolate Door also documented their journey in a short film.

With its quests and stations, the Coney Island photoshoot was certainly an adventure! Michele and Joey enjoyed it immensely: “We went through several obstacles during the shoot; it definitely wasn’t an easy one as we had to travel from station to station to capture different memories. There was so much thought put into every detail of the whole experience. Amazing dedication and talent by the whole team, who made our whole pre-wed shoot perfect and so much fun!”

We love the idea of turning a pre-wedding shoot into a real adventure and experience for the couple. Instead of posed shots, couples can have fun and capture real moments to remember during their quest!
