A Wedding Symphony with FOO’D by Davide Oldani and Z Wedding

FOO’D by Davide Oldani’s first wedding showcase was a beautiful afternoon of exciting canapés, prosecco, live music, and a stunning runway reveal of the Z Wedding 2018 collection.

On Sunday, 26 November 2017, FOO’D by Davide Oldani hosted their first wedding showcase, A Wedding Symphony, where the beautiful Z Wedding 2018 wedding and evening gown collection was revealed in a dramatic runway between the restaurant’s Corinthian columns.

Set in heritage-listed Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall, FOO’D by Davide Oldani is a beautiful restaurant with intricately carved columns drawing the eye to its high ceilings and beautiful archways. The restaurant makes a perfect wedding venue, with its light and bright main dining hall seating up to 150 guests at the grand solid slab wood tables, with other tables able to be arranged in long formations or cosy seating.

A large screen forms the backdrop to a spotlighted stage, so couples can share special moments with their guests. Outside, a bar and lounge and alfresco area can seat up to 80 more guests for larger weddings. Having only been in operation for 11 months, FOO’D by Davide Oldani has hosted 15 grand events to date, and will be hosting European royalty in December.

As elegant as the setting is, the beautiful cuisine is the real star of FOO’D. Headed by Michelin-Starred Chef Davide Oldani, the restaurant follows his Cucina Pop food philosophy, presenting high quality fine dining at wallet-friendly prices. Reinterpreting Italian cuisine with contemporary touches, the restaurant gives importance to high quality, seasonal ingredients to create a harmony of flavours. An exquisite balance of savoury and sweet, textures and even temperatures, in each creative dish, all stimulate the palate.

During the show, couples were treated to a taste of the restaurant’s creative offerings by Executive Chef Simone Depalmas himself, who served exciting canapés and delicate desserts from the stunning solid wood bar. Surprising flavours like chilli crab macarons, blue cheese canapés, and tiny stuffed tomatoes delighted the couples, along with decadent praline and mousse confections for dessert.

With an emphasis on a great fine dining experience, the FOO’D culinary team is able to personalise a bespoke wedding menu to each couple’s taste. Wedding lunch packages begin at $11,899 for 60 persons, and include a four-course plated meal, 12 bottles of wine, sparkling wine to toast the occasion, floral arrangements, and the in-house sound system.

Champagne glasses clinked as couples celebrated their upcoming weddings with Prosecco by Bottega, whose gleaming gold and rose gold bottles lined the bar. A live band serenaded the crowd as couples spoke to vendors about their dream wedding, and heard from FOO’D Director Jean Foo about the rich history of the restaurant’s setting in Victoria Concert Hall.

Chris Ling from Chris Ling International Photographers shared pointers for couples preparing for their pre-wedding shoots, and introduced the creative art behind every Z Wedding gown design, before kicking off the anticipated runway reveal of the Z Wedding 2018 collection.

Inspired by the stars in the night sky, the stunning 2018 collection once again showcased Z Wedding’s fine craftsmanship and beautiful aesthetic with glittering fabrics and exquisite beadwork in Swarovski crystals, paillette, and pearls. Crowned with delicate jewelled tiaras, the models walked down the long runway in elegant designs fit for a queen. Plunging necklines, trending off-the-shoulder designs, and the classic sweetheart offered brides a myriad of choice. Sheer skirts and long trains made of ethereal, glittering tulle floated down the runway.

Luxuriously intricate lace and floral appliqué adorned graceful ball gowns fit for royalty, and laser-cut lace created striking inserts and dramatic back views. Besides classic whites and ivories, the gowns also appeared in soft blush and nude underlays that offset delicate white lace beautifully. Evening gowns shimmered in dusky rose golds and vintage silvers, and sparkled like the night sky with exquisitely beaded crystals on deep blue hues.

A Wedding Symphony was a beautiful afternoon full of inspiration and exclusive perks for the many soon-to-wed couples who attended. After a lucky draw, the afternoon drew to a close, but the wedding planning has just begun!
