6 Regal Wedding Gowns from The Wedding Present’s Countess Collection
The Wedding Present reveals six regal new wedding gowns from their Countess collection.
Known for their sophisticated gowns, this season The Wedding Present takes things up a regal notch with their collection, “Countess.” Inspired by the mysterious, never-seen Countess Nicole de Lancret in the popular fairy tale Ever After , the collection imagines her life with glamour and strength. Designers Patrick Chan and Jordan Ong, founders of The Wedding Present, share, “The Countess was never seen in the movie and we are intrigued by this. This shoot was our creative vision of the life and fashion of Countess de Lancret.”
With their renowned flair for innovative silhouettes and whimsical detailing, The Wedding Present gave the Countess a wardrobe fit for a queen. In their signature aesthetic, the gowns have a striking glamour that is understated and elegant, created by balancing dramatic detail with clean, fluid silhouettes. “Our wedding gown collection featured a lot of delicate, pretty lace work and beaded fabrics,” shares the designers. “We were inspired by an airy, light-weight selection of fabrics to create a fluid collection befitting a princess bride. The overall feel is an ethereal look which has always been our favourite direction for our wedding gowns.” Translucent skirts, illusion necklines, and sheer backs feature in clean and lightweight wedding gowns that will clothe a bride with regal grace.
The Countess collection showcases The Wedding Present’s masterful draping techniques to create their signature fluid looks. “We love soft feminine silhouettes; so although the layering tailoring techniques use a lot more fabric and effort plus time to create, our team of dressmakers feel the end result is worth it,” says the designers. A sharp V-neck is accented with striking sequinned icicles that flow onto a cascade of sheer ruffles. A voluminous ball gown skirt in layers upon layers of tulle is paired with a delicate sweetheart bodice and covered with tiny snow-coloured flowers. A sculpted gown in a richly textured emerald green is accented with a regal black cape and dramatic shoulder detail.
“We wanted to create a summery collection that is regal, glamorous and at the same time still comfortable in Singapore’s tropical weather,” the designers reveal. With its fluid silhouettes and glamorous design details, the Countess collection answers the modern bride’s desire for individuality and glamour, while celebrating the femininity and beauty a wedding gown should inspire.
