The Artist by Amanda Lee Weddings
Amanda Lee Weddings presents a special collection of four gowns designed to bring out the artist in you.
Titled The Artist, this unique collection of four specially designed pieces by Amanda Lee Weddings is a celebration of modern art. Created in 2014, The Artist is inspired by Amanda’s love of modern art, especially Henri Matisse and Roy Lichtenstein’s works.
Matisse’s use of vibrant colours and simple forms and Lichtenstein’s unique painting techniques of thick bold lines and repeated dots excited Amanda’s creativity and spurred the creation of these one-of-a-kind beauties. For the first time, Amanda is showcasing these rare stunners in a detailed styled shoot with AndroidsinBoots.
In the same way modern artists experiment with new ways of seeing and fresh ideas about the nature of materials and functions of art, Amanda played around with the materials usually used in making gowns. Using soft tulle, luxurious Duchess Satin and silk taffeta and delicate lace as her choice of canvas, she drew out patterns of shapes, flowers and leaves using a mixture of coloured organzas, brocades, beads and hand embroideries. Here, needles became her brushes as she painstakingly sewed the patterns onto the gowns like how an artist would delicately add details to a painting.
What Amanda created are captivating, contemporary ethereal gowns that are elegant, singular and works of art, suitable for all brides, adventurous or otherwise. Adventurous brides will find the sheer mermaid tulle gown with hand embroidered and beaded patterns and shapes and vibrant red gown with an illusion neckline and long sleeve intriguing and unique.
More conservative brides need not worry – there is something in this collection for you. Amanda created two more wearable designs that also incorporates Matisse’s and Lichtenstein’s inspirations – a delicate sheath with a low illusion back that features an exquisite mixture of lilac lace, gold sequins and colourful embroideries. The final piece in The Artist is a lovely dual-coloured silk taffeta gown that features a black sweetheart bustier and a deep red skirt with sequins and embroideries that add dimension.
Although it has been two years since The Artist was created, the gowns in this collection remain the first of its kind, contemporary, elegant and timeless – everything Amanda Lee Weddings is known for.
