The Ritz-Carlton Legacy Wedding Showcase
In celebration of our nation’s Golden Jubilee this year, The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore launches a spectacular wedding extravaganza, The Ritz-Carlton Legacy Wedding Showcase, happening this Sunday, 14 June 2015. We were privileged to be invited over last week for a private tête-à-tête session with some of Singapore’s most renowned haute couture designers and were treated to a sneak preview of the gowns they created specially for the upcoming showcase. Read all about it here and find out what’s in store for you atThe Ritz-Carlton Legacy Wedding Showcase.
Daniel BoeyThe private media preview session unfolded in one of The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore’s spacious suites, where Singapore’s renowned haute couture designers, Francis Cheong, Frederick Lee, Vaughn Tan and Leslie Chia, joined us. Our host of the day was none other than Daniel Boey, one of Asia’s most sought-after fashion and lifestyle event curator, who is also the choreographer for this Sunday’s bridal runway show. The designers each revealed a piece from their upcoming collections, specially created for The Legacy Wedding Showcase.
Francis CheongFrancis Cheong’s biscuit-coloured hi-low gown, featuring an intricately beaded and lace overlay bustier and airy tulle skirt and romantic bow at the back, is a reflection of his design philosophy – simple yet stylish, putting a twist to a traditional silhouette and design. He subtle injection of colour to the usually all-white wedding gown by contrasting white lace and beading against a nude undertone, highlighting the beautiful beadwork on the bustier.
Vaughn TanKnown for his structured designs and high fashion style inspired by stunning architectural designs, among other things, Vaughn Tan shared with us an elegant and modern lace sheath that gracefully flares out at the knees. Vaughn candidly reveals that the architectural panels and peek-a-boo designs on the bustier and back of the gown were inspired by the construction of window panels, bestowing the gown with an edgy vibe.
Frederick LeeFrederick’s show-stopping sexy dusty pink illusion gown with a gorgeous trumpet skirt full of roses perfectly embodies his high drama, high fashion and glamourous design personality. The stunning floral illustration on the bodice, elaborately formed with hand-sewn sequins, and giant rosettes on the skirt are inspired by nature and the colourful, celebratory and delicate disposition of blooms.
Leslie Chia of PimabsTo complement these designers’ stunning creations, Leslie Chia, founder and designer of Pimabs, created a collection of minimalist yet trendy men’s suits for The Legacy Wedding Showcase. Pimabs is a pioneer of modern bespoke tailoring for menswear in Singapore. Leslie draws his inspiration from western tailoring traditions and giving it a modern oriental twist. For the show, he stuck to basic yet chic colour combinations, such as a dark grey suit paired with a pristine white shirt, fashioned with an edgy and contemporary collar that has a hint of oriental in its design.
