An Exclusive Preview of Anteprima’s Wedding Collection @ The Lewin Terrace
Some time back in March, the Editor and I were kindly invited to The Lewin Terrace for an intimate preview of the exclusive Anteprima bridal collection that designer Izumi Ogino created for Singapore. And boy were we in for a treat that wonderful afternoon.
The Lewin Terrace is a refurbished black and white bungalow quaintly nestled in the lush greenery of Fort Canning Park and boasts 4 seating areas, each with a different ambience. We were welcomed by Megumi-san from Tirtha Weddings at the Gallery Bar, a contemporary space with white walls adorned beautifully with Izumi-san’s sketches of her collection, stylishly framed in black photo frames, a plush sofa and chair set that we settled very comfortably into, and gorgeous wooden flooring. From where we were, we caught a peek at the Anteprima bridal gowns that were about to be introduced to us shortly through the 4-glass paneled door that separated the Gallery Bar from the Private Table room.
The Private Table room is a beautiful, intimate space with white washed walls and colonial styled four-paned windows that lets in the abundant sunlight during the day, bathing the room in natural light. And in that room stood a rack of 6 brilliant Anteprima gowns designed specifically for Singaporean brides. Megumi-san shared with us Izumi-san’s vision for her latest collection – Otona Kawaii, which translates into an adult adorableness. Her collection reflects a celebration of the different facets of a woman’s femininity and brilliance in a subtle and understated manner, with the use of feminine and girly embellishments like delicate Gabardine flower petals, Swarovski crystals and tulle covered pearls, all lovingly hand-sewn, and soft, flowy materials like the ever popular tulle, Chantilly and corded lace and silk taffeta.
It is also obvious how much thought Izumi-san put into the forms of the gowns. The silhouettes were designed specifically to flaunt an Asian woman’s figure, nipping in at the waist and flaring out at the bottom of the gown, creating a subtle feminine curve that is not too dramatic or harsh on the eye. Pleat and wavy details have also been incorporated in her designs to give the gowns a sense of movement and to highlight dainty areas like a woman’s narrow waist or dainty shoulders. She also made sure that brides were able to create two different bridal looks with just one gown by inventing detachable trains that can be attached for a grand entrance and taken off for easy movement during the wedding reception, or detachable elbow-long lace sleeved tops that can be attached to the bustier of the gowns for a church solemnisation and removed for the reception.
After we feasted our eyes on and ooh-ed and ahh-ed over Tirtha Weddings’s new Anteprima collection, we were treated to a gastronomic delight prepared by The Lewin Terrace’s chef, Chef Ryoichi Kano and given a tour of the Romantic Terrace and the Gathering Table areas. The Romantic Terrace sits on the balcony area of the building and overlooks the lush greenery that surrounds the space. It is an area where lovers can serenade each other with absolute privacy as tables are knowingly and generously spaced apart. The Gathering Table area, however, is great if you have a small group or family gathering, as the 8-seater long table seating arrangement is cozy enough for your guests to mingle with one another without feeling crowded.
If you’re looking to say your vows and celebrate your new beginning surrounded by nature and light, then The Lewin Terrace is the perfect place for you. Solemnise against the backdrop of the surrounding luscious greenery on the Romantic Terrace and proceed indoors to the Gathering Table or the Private Table room for your reception. Or, you can choose to solemnise at the nearby Armenian Church and proceed to The Lewin Terrace for your reception. Either way, you won’t be disappointed with the excellent fusion food and impeccable service.
