A Riverside Romance with Amanda Lee Weddings

The end of the first quarter of the year marks the beginning of a flurry of wedding shows brides-to-be can escape to from the summer heat. It is also the perfect opportunity for them to be introduced to the featured bridal boutique’s new collection of wedding and evening gowns. And on a perfectly sunny Saturday in March, brides-to-be were treated to Amanda Lee Weddings’s new wedding collection at Swissôtel Merchant Court’s wedding showcase, Wedding Splendour by the River.

Couples who arrived early at Swissôtel Merchant Court wasted no time in getting themselves the best seats in the Merchant Court Ballroom for an unobstructed view of the fashion show by Amanda Lee Weddings. Models sashayed around and on a T-shaped runway in the middle of the spacious ballroom, giving brides-to-be a closer look of the gowns.

The versatility of designer Amanda Lee’s new wedding and evening collection ensured that there was a gown for every bride in the room. Whether you prefer a sexy but not too revealing halter neck wedding gown or a romantic sleeveless gown with a sweetheart neckline, Amanda Lee’s new sheath gowns promises to give you a slim and elegant silhouette that ends in a slight trumpet flair. The new collection also features a sweetheart neckline gown with a more dramatic trumpet silhouette for brides who prefer a wedding gown with more oomph.

Amanda Lee’s new collection of wedding gowns also features an array of gowns in A-line and ballgown silhouettes with the classic sweetheart neckline in satin, taffeta and soft tulle skirts. These gowns were adorned with delicate lace and flower appliques, adding a touch of feminine romance that all girly brides will find hard to resist. Her new collection also featured ballgowns with a ruched skirt and toga neckline for a dash of modernity. But the star of the afternoon had to be the knee-length tulle gown. Playful, romantic and modern, this adorable gown with a side-slanting hem is perfect for a garden solemnisation or wedding celebration.

The bold use of colours in her evening gown collection clearly demonstrated Amanda Lee’s creativity. Black, a colour commonly shunned during Chinese weddings due to a belief that it brings bad luck, took center stage as models worked the runway in full black or partial black evening gowns. The showstopper was without doubt a black knee-length cheongsam rimmed with fuchsia – Amanda Lee’s modern interpretation of the Chinese traditional wedding outfit. Brides-to-be also experienced an explosion of colours as models walked the runway in bright fuchsia, canary yellow and turquoise-blue evening gowns. The evening gown collection was then rounded up with two slinky and classy gowns in gold and silver.

Besides an impressive selection of wedding and evening gowns for the brides-to-be in the room, Amanda Lee’s new bridal collection also featured a little something for the men in the room. She kept the men’s suits simple, in full white or black attire with a crisp white shirt inside and optional black bowtie – perfectly classic, clean and versatile. She also created a fun men’s suit for grooms who are more adventurous and unconventional – a checkered patterned blazer and bowtie, paired with a white shirt and sand-coloured pants.

The bridal show ended with a rousing applause and left couples inspired and eager to learn more at the Amanda Lee Weddings’s booth immediately after the lights in the ballroom came back on. To sum up the day, a delicious buffet spread prepared by Swissôtel Merchant Court and a lucky draw awaited couples after the bridal show. For brides-to-be and their partners, this was the perfect way to spend a hot Saturday afternoon.
