A Wedding Spectacular with La Belle Couture
Wedding shows are a great way to take a break from your wedding planning and still end up with the information you need from the necessary wedding vendors such as bridal boutiques and wedding photographers. A bridal fashion show on the latest wedding trends is also part of a wedding show’s itinerary, just like the one La Belle Couture put on at Hotel Fort Canning’s wedding showcase, Weddings in the Park.
The Legends Ballroom, Hotel Fort Canning’s largest ballroom, was the venue for La Belle Couture’s bridal extravaganza that afternoon on 13 April 2013. The decadently spacious and deep ballroom was large enough to accommodate the afternoon’s participating wedding vendors’ booths and a T-shaped runway. Couples wasted no time in seating themselves in the best seats around the runway minutes before the highly anticipated fashion show was due to commence. After an introduction of the key personnel from Hotel Fort Canning, the show commenced with the dimming of the lights. A hush fell over the audience as five models clad in La Belle Couture’s latest wedding collection appeared on stage.
As the models sashayed down the runway one by one, it became clear that the creative direction for La Belle Couture’s latest wedding collection was towards the classic necklines and silhouettes. These worked perfectly to create a romantic and feminine look and girly brides-to-be in the audience couldn’t help but be entranced by the wedding gowns with sweetheart necklines and ballgown silhouettes. The sheath and trumpet gowns, on the hand, were the answers to brides-to-be who craves for a more elegant wedding look. To enhance the femininity and elegance of their wedding gowns, La Belle Couture employed tulle, satin and lace in the creation of the gowns and embellished them with crystals and lace appliques.
Eyebrows were slightly raised as La Belle Couture surprised the audience with two black accented wedding gowns. The designers made a bold move to incorporate black waist belts, a colour associated with bad luck in the Chinese culture, to create a modern contrast to the classic wedding look. Their wedding gowns also featured low laced-up and open backs for a subtle touch of sexy to keep things interesting.
Next up was La Belle Couture’s evening collection. As different from their wedding collection as night and day, their latest evening collection featured gowns with lower necklines and sexier silhouettes in bolder colours like royal purple and red. Now, if those colours aren’t your cup of tea, don’t worry. La Belle Couture’s evening collection also carries gowns in other shades and colours, like lilac and blue.
To ensure a smooth transition from their wedding to evening collection, a baby-blue hi-low evening gown and a lilac sweetheart trumpet gown were among the first evening gowns to make their appearance that afternoon. The use of soft lilac tulle and 3D rosettes created texture for these gowns and enhanced its playfulness. The evening collection also featured a sexy form-fitting trumpet gown in an interesting mix of royal blue with fuchsia accents at the top and hem of the gown.
The bridal show concluded with a showstopper that afternoon – a laced, open back ballgown with an illusion high neck and black glitter tulle over a midnight blue skirt. It was daring, elegant, sophisticated, sexy and romantic all at the same time – now, who wouldn’t want a statement gown like that?
