When Love and Art Collide
What happens when architecture meets fashion? You get a marriage of two art forms grounded on space, structure and composition, and nurtured on creativity, patterns and fun. You’ll also get a beautiful Bali wedding on 09 October 2011, which was also where Pern Choo, 38, Associate, Senior Resort Master Planner, had proposed to Innika Chamberlin, 28, Personal Stylist, while riding on a motor bike as they discover the famous padi fields together.
What were the inspirations for your gorgeous Bali wedding?
Innika: It took about 10 months of on and off planning and lots of trips to Bali! (Maybe that was an excuse for the mini holidays – haha!) The inspiration was derived from our mutual loves and interests, which evolved naturally into the styling for the wedding. Architectural lines, fashion, textures, the location, patterns and repetitions were all common themes. We had a lot of fun coming up with new ideas using the concepts we are all familiar with!
It sure does look like lots of fun!
Innika: It was like one big party! Nearly all the invited guests ended up in the pool by the end of the evening. It looked like something out of a music video. It felt amazing to see all our loved ones having as much fun as we were having! Everyone is still talking about it now even though it’s been a month. Apparently, people we don’t know have been approaching our friends at parties to ask about about the wedding photos they saw on Facebook. It was such an amazing day that everyone wants to do it again, us included!
What did you remember and treasure most about that day?
Innika: I think it was mainly all the feedback we had received since then; the sincere comments, amazing emails, and gracious thank yous we got during and after the wedding validated all the creativity, time, money, and effort that went into creating this amazing day… because at the end of it all, we had wanted a party for our friends and loved ones – and we succeeded!
