A Magical Journey in Music
Passion is usually not all it takes to be successful in what you do; every endeavour needs a vision before it can take to the earth and grow into something beautiful. Wedding Harmony was such a seedling, cultivated by a group of friends passionate about music, and with a common vision to create musical weddings for wedding couples.
To Wedding Harmony, a musical wedding is more than just having live entertainment – guests should come away from the wedding feeling like they had just attended a musical concert. Never known to be skeptics, this group of friends took a bold step into unconquered land and has since composed and produced more than 80 original love songs and performed at over 500 weddings for appreciative Singaporean couples. Lorraine Tan, founder and award-winning Singaporean singer-songwriter at Wedding Harmony, says, “We have made so many new friends along the way, we feel such a sense of fulfilment that money cannot buy. We want to say a big ‘Thank you’ to all our couples who believed in us and supported us from the very beginning.”
Apart from their tailor-made love songs, which never fails to elicit gasps from the guests every time they are sung live as the couple walks down the aisle, Wedding Harmony also performs a popular mix of light jazz, evergreens, and pop ballads, and started the “special tribute to parents” songs, as well as released three commercial albums. This success of these albums, Original Love Stories Vol 1 & 2, and 我的世界 , is due in no small part to their dedication in roping in only the best musicians and investing in quality instruments and equipment, keeping them ahead of the rest in the industry with their branding. They even have a Music Concierge who attends to the coordination required when it comes to timelines, song selections, and liaising with vendors, so that couples can focus on the other parts of the wedding planning.
Most of Wedding Harmony’s couples go for the full concert set-up, which includes a five- to seven-piece live band and professional sound crew, as well as an original composition. A particularly memorable wedding for Lorraine was a surprise performance of a Disney-inspired original piece for the bride that mentioned Winnie The Pooh, which was the tearing bride’s favourite Disney character. “I sang live for the couple that evening, and they danced to their original wedding song. It was like we were all in a fairytale, very beautiful and magical.”
A performing artiste in her own right, Lorraine, known in the music industry as 陈莉芯 , hasn’t run out of inspiration because each original wedding song is unique to each couple. In her own recently released commercial Mandarin album, 我的世界 , which topped the HMV sales charts for two consecutive weeks, she included four original songs she had composed for weddings that she loved very much. “The fact that many of our past and current couples have supported the album motivates me to strive to do even better personally and for Wedding Harmony.
