Silhouette The Atelier Fashion Show 2010
With rich embellishments, artful layers, and sumptuous fabrics, it goes without saying that Silhouette the Atelier designs exude an air of easy glamour. The collection they presented was called Beautiful, and it surely was everything and more.
A breathtaking seafoam-coloured piece opened the show – with a fitted bodice and an avant-garde gown, it was like a temptress, ensuring that all eyes were fixed on the runway throughout the show. The seafoam piece had an exposed zipper at the back, making it more runway-worthy than it already is.
While a lot of designers seem to have the evening gowns as an after-thought, the design team behind Silhouette the Atelier doesn’t make such the case. From a simple grayish-blue piece that cascades down a bride with a bodice that hugs and enhances each curve to a Spanish flamenco-inspired multi-coloured ensemble that rocked the runway – and is certainly not for the faint-hearted bride, Silhouette the Atelier were clear that they wanted to impress, drop jaws and push boundaries, all at the same time.
The wedding gown segment was a crowd pleaser – a spectacle of luxurious fabrics, and intricate handiwork, it was as though they took a traditional wedding gown and reinvented in in ways you only once dreamt about.
The fitted bodices of the wedding gowns took a little twist with lower backs, showing off everything from the nape of the neck to mid-back, giving brides an understated Hollywood-worthy glamour. Floating down the runway, the gowns looked nothing short of up-to-the-minute, but with a hint of classic that you’d look back fondly upon when looking at your wedding photos thirty years from now.
