Do Alternative Wedding Venues Cost Less than Hotels?

A common misconception in Singapore is that an alternative wedding venue such as a restaurant costs less than a fancy ballroom in a hotel. While hotel wedding packages may seem expensive at a glance, they are usually comprehensive and include use of the venue, food and drinks, audiovisual equipment, wedding invitations, and wedding themed décor. Restaurants and cafes require minimum spend for exclusive use of their space, and while some do offer wedding packages, often you pay for a la carte items instead, such as set meals per head, and décor, alcohol, furniture rental, and audiovisual systems are not included. When visiting your shortlisted venues, do enquire about what’s provided and factor in additional costs for things you need to source on your own.
