Wedding Ring - Advice pls!

Hi all, my first post here.

Planning to get a ring to propose to my gf of 3 years.

She's not really particular about rings, but I wanna give her a diamond ring, with a budget of below 4k.

Checked out lee hwa, SK and goldheart today. Goldheart's celestial range (Starburst) was really nice! An ideal cut 0.26 carat at 2.8k. SK's and leehwa's were more of normal diamond rings (hearts & arrows).

There were also promotion diamonds, a 0.4 carat good cut SI1 at 1k sgd (pretty cheap!), and a 0.5 carat good cut VS1 at 2.3k sgd.

Anyone got their rings from a private jeweller? And if so, how is the quality like? I know it's more value for money though, checked out a few of them.

I'm kinda confused on what should I get now, too many choices. Any advices?

Hi Darren,

I got mine at affordable price, spec is colour E, VS2,triple excellent cut and 0.21carat. I saw one solitaire of 0.24carat below 3K which i find it worth it. Let's exchange information, add me @ [email protected]

Thanks for the replies. Added you guys =) I'm gonna giving myself arnd 2 months to check out the rings and get one really nice one for her.

my hubby got mine from josi gems, would say pricing is alot more competitive. you can check the forums for other reviews

Hi Darren, I hope its not too late for my comment Firstly, I must say u r really sweet to ask comments of girls through the forum!

For myself, my htb proposed to me with a LeeHwa Destinee. But while I was shopping for my wedding bands and stepped into Charlotte @ suntec, I thought I wanted a Gabrielle diamond for my proposal ring instead.
My favourite was the pear shaped diamond on a 3D wave ring. I was trying hard to convince my htb to let me wear it as a wedding band but he said it looked too much not like a usual wedding band so I was secretly hoping that he would have gotten the ring as a proposal ring in the first place. but well, it's too late.
They have other shapes of diamonds too and not as ex as a destinee. I dunno the prices of other jewellers though.
Just my 2 cents worth but its up to u. Oh ya and I saw online that Gabrielle diamonds have very mixed reviews... but I think its a personal preference, so u can take into account too! Good luck!

Gabrielle cut is a very beautiful cut but it is also tag with a huge price tag. I would say that a round brilliant with 57 facets that is cut to the highest grade of a premium ideal cut can perform higher. At the same time, it can cost the same price as a normal cut diamond.

Being a gemologist myself, I have my set of guidelines to follow and it helps me to pick out stones that has a stronger fire, light return and eventually a better scintillation.

I will recommend that you to go for a private jeweler for your diamond since you are picking out something special and exclusive for your wtb. At the same time, something that is within your budget.

Hi all,

Kindly advise a diamond ring,0.30CT,D,VV2,18K, shape & cutting style : Round Brilliant, Cut Grade Excellent.
Come with GIA cert.

what will be the market value like?

Seeing one which is now on offer of SGD1470, is this a worth buy?

Only if I buy some more jewelery from the same shop they are willing to give further discount

Still sourcing and considering..
Do you think this is too small?

We bought our engagement ring and wedding bands from vivodiamonds. You can do a search and find out their prices on their website. What we like about them is that we can customise our rings to our design and they are able to find me a diamond that suits our small budget of less than $2,500 for the 3 rings(1 engagement, and 2 wedding rings)

You can give them a try.

Here is our wedding bands design. We are given free ring pillow and free laser engraving of our wedding dates on the rings.

Heya I believe ur looking for something like an engagement ring?
Just to share :)

Mine is a 0.72ct, J Colour, VS 2, triple ideal cut diamond set on a 4 prong pave ring.

We bought the diamond online from Brian Gavin and had it set in Lovis diamonds for a total of about $3.5k.

It's relatively cheap for its size because all I really care about is that it is white and clear to the visible eye and its sparkles LIKE CRAZY! So cut was most important. Also, it has medium blue fluorescence so it turns blue under UV. To be really honest, most people think my ring is about G Colour so yeah I think unless u really stare hard at it, no one can tell the Colour or clarity.

Here's my baby with some UV light! :)
